Gelatine

Hi all

Interested to see who uses Gelatine on a regular basis to make your own food tabs for your plecs?

I make a vege one and a shrimp mix one for my plecs and I add 3 teaspoons of Gelatine and 200mls of water to approx 3 cups of mix. I have been told tho that the Gelatine can be dangerous for ...

I agree a high wattage heater will "cook" a tank very quickly if it fails on. I either use 1 smaller one or in my bigger tanks 2 smaller ones, one at each end of the tank.

L204 Sexing

Hi All

I have 3 L204's that are 15cm. I have a feeling they are all males (as they are all hairy), but I would like some second opions?

Raising TDS

Is there an agreed way of raising TDS in a tank after it has been put through a "wet season" without the nitrate increasing to much?

I don't have to worry about it as the TDS in my normal tap water is fairly high, but I have been asked the question by some friends that have very soft water from ...

With a high quality UV Sterilizer you can drastically reduce the amount of free floating microscopic water borne bacteria, parasitic, fungal, viral, algae, and other unfriendly pathogens out of aquarium water by exposing it to UV light. This ultimatly reduces your bio load, however I have always ...

I have read quite a bit on different methods for increasing Oxygen levels and in particular O2 ppm in the aquarium for breeding. Interested to see if there are many people achieving 8-10ppm and if so the different ways in which you achieve it.

24hrs is the maximum for my Pl*c's that only have a bit a couple of times a week. However with my Ancistrus I cut the Zucc into qtrs and leave it in the tank till it's gone, usually 24-36hrs.

L168 Colony Sexs please

I have a colony of L168's. 4 of these are 12-13cm and have long odontodes 4-5mm sprouting from their pectoral fins and spines along their bodies which clearly puts them in the male category.

However the fish below (all approx 10cm) I thought maybe female also have small 2-3mm odontodes on their ...

I use sliding G clamps to hold pots and like K I use a angle grinder hacksaw would take you ages on a big hole. Using a hacksaw you will need to use a mansonary drill to make corners for your holes.

The "Orange Spot BN" that we have here has quite a few varients to it's shape size and color due to cross breeding over the years and I personally have seen 5 versions and the owners knew them by many different L numbers.

These aren't too difficult, they will breed in normal tap water 25 degrees PH 7. 10% water changes weekly and 30% every 4th week and you shouldn't have to many problems.
