Re: Added another family of fishes...

oooh that's cool! Giraffe cats are usually huge so this could be interesting.

Did you add them to cat-e-log or just to your collection? I want to see a picture

Re: Brown Recluse: Upside down catfish

Cool beans, I like the last one the best though. Did you take those with or without flash?

2 of my catfish have chosen a new place to hide; one on the leaf and one on the sides of a log. I am pretty sure that when a tinfoil barb knocked over a log it upset the balance and new order had to be ...

Re: Fish TV

Another good fish documentary is "River of the sun." It shows arowana, an oscar ,some piranha, a pacu, lemon tetras and neon tetras, and some big cats(a tiger shovel-nose shows up)... and a gigantic fish I forget the name but it inhales cichlids whole. It is for the amazon region so maybe not so on ...

Re: Brown Recluse: Upside down catfish

Hey I moved some decorations around and added flat rocks and a plastic plant from my other tank. I saw two (2) catfish out and about swimming along the back wall, under broad leafed plants or on the side of the fake wooden decoration.

It was a magical moment to say the least.

Re: Brown Recluse: Upside down catfish

Tinfoils are not a good mix & this will definately affect their behaviour!

The best set-up i've seen for these was a 30" long species tank, it had a sand substrate with leaf litter (beech leaves), vallis at the back & sides only, a foot long thin spindly, root with many fine branches on the bottom ...

Re: Brown Recluse: Upside down catfish

They are in a 70 galloner. A bit small for tinfoils but I bought them before I knew much and now I am attatched to them... and budget doesn't quite permit a larger tank (and for the time being neither do the parents) There are 4 tinfoils and 4 UDC. That is all I have. My Pareutropius buffei are now ...

Re: My chacas * pics

I have never seen these things ever before.

Those are the wierdest/coolest looking fish I have ever seen. Are they very active after dark? (like hyperactive) Or are they docile when they are swimming around? I want to see a chaca swimming.

Brown Recluse: Upside down catfish

(again)

Hey, I found some pictures of upside down catfish out in the open? I thought I would try and get mine to do this, and it has been unsucessful as of yet. I bought 2 more, (all they had in stock for months) so now I have 4. I plan to keep buying more until I run out of money or until they ...

Re: s. nigriventris with BLACK MOORS?

Bumper to bumper:

I moved them to my 72 gallon tank because my oscar is no longer with us.

:(
I spent 200 bucks bringing him to the vet and got him injections for his rare illness.

The catfish have been in there for about 2 weeks and the temperature is a balmy 27 degrees Celsius, with my 4 8 inch ...

I saw one of them at the LFS when I was looking to increase my stock of Upside down cats. Would it bully them? The featherfin was so cute and fairly big at around 5 inches. I have a 72 gallon tank... (4 tinfoil + 3 s.nigriventris) that should be large enough... but I don't want to overstock (or ...

Re: s. nigriventris with BLACK MOORS?

Well, I don't think there are any laws around here about miss-informing people around here... But it is the same pet store that brought in a 2 foot long young Red-tail Catfish and put up a sign that said "40 gallon min"

I'll look into the temperature that can suit the 2 species best until I can set ...

Hmmm, that is a lot of catfish. Is the neon tetra alone? If so, does it hang out with the pearl danios? Or is it all alone and lonesome...

:(

Amazing danios, they looked like some sort of Kilifish to me at first. I like L021 the best.

actually I'd trade it in for a different species of catfish.

Aw...

:(

Re: s. nigriventris with BLACK MOORS?

Well, it does get warmer in the summer like 26ish... should I put a heater to keep it above a certian temperature, like 22 or something?

:/

If I got some lilypads they could absorb a little nitrate and provide a perch for one or two... would that help?

Those are beautiful animals, it is a shame how many end up in 10 gallon tanks... how big is your tank? I realize that in their native countries people eat them, but these are PET FISH... I dunno...
