Re: Fish TV
got it on DVD for years now
there's a fairly long sequence on Synodontis multipunctatus with unique footage about the little baby Syno's doing their parasitic thing inside the mouth of a Ctenochromis horei female.
there's also a shot of a large shoal of multipunctatus under a huge overhanging piece of wood...awesome view
and there's a bit about the electric catfish
love that show, although they still managed to cram in waayyyy too much time spend on mammals and birds; the least interesting perts of the animal kingdom. it would have been better if it was a sole fish show, but what there is on fish has never been surpassed by any other film on Tanganyika
1 sad thing, though; I luckily have the original one.
that one has a very restful commentary, a bit reminiscent of Sir David.
unfortunately the new 'version' has the old footage, but with one of those awful "six pack joe" voice overs wich is aimed at an audience solely consisting of morons and idiots.
this is one of the reasons, and the main one at that, why I don't watch NGC anymore, or any other show on animal planet, unless it's made by Nick or sir David.
the rest are all highly annoying shouting trailertrash with the average IQ of metric centigrade roomtemperature.
it puts a hurt on my eyes and ears.

Re: Fish TV
Another good fish documentary is "River of the sun." It shows arowana, an oscar ,some piranha, a pacu, lemon tetras and neon tetras, and some big cats(a tiger shovel-nose shows up)... and a gigantic fish I forget the name but it inhales cichlids whole. It is for the amazon region so maybe not so on topic? It is on youtube now in six 8-10 minute parts.
Unfortunately it focuses mainly on boring old river otters. . . and manatees. (it is awesome if you like that kind of thing) I hate it how most all the documentaries focus on mammals and birds. Luckily there are some pure insect ones. . .
The coolest thing ever is the arowana flying out of the water. I don't want to spoil the whole thing now..
