About 2 months ago, I had 3 spawns from the bronze cory. Unfortunately I lost almost all the eggs as I did not operate my tumbler well.
Since that time I have not changed the conditioning nor the water changes but they have not spawned again. Another cory species in the same tank is now in its 4th ...

Re: same cory, different egg size?
Thanks for the answers, especially Eric!
I know now that it should be a different species then as all eggs have been hatching and it is already the 3rd batch now with these smaller eggs.
Fry also seem to behave differently as they seem to be 'grazing' more on the sides of the tub I am using to ...

same cory, different egg size?
In the same tank I keep aeneus, habrosus, similis and CW008. About 2 months ago, the aeneus were spawning profusely on the front glass of the tank.
The last 2 weeks I have been coming home to smaller eggs that were laid on an Amazon sword leaf right in front of the outlet.

So nothing more hatched; I have 4 fry from 40+ eggs; a very low hatching rate.

Re: Live tips to save cory eggs
Last night the number of eggs had diminished greatly; I am down to about 12. As most were scattered and not clumped together, I can only conclude the eggs were eaten before fungusing.
On a more positive note: there are 4 wrigglers today.

Thanks for the tips and info!
Oak leaves galore!
So, if I understand it right, these fish prefer warmer water for spawning contrary to the species that are triggered by colder water?

Do you happen to know whether they are floating spawning mop spawners or more substrate spawners aka in java moss or similar?

CW008 breeding?
Yesterday I scored some CW008 aka gold striped elegans in a local shop. Unfortunately I have not been able to find much info on this cory.
Anybody that bred this species? I would love to hear your experiences!

Re: Live tips to save cory eggs
A few weeks ago I got a Cobalt Aquatics Egg tumbler at an auction. Two days ago I had an opportunity to use it again with C. aeneus.
As my last batch in the egg tumbler fungused completely (my fault; the air setting was too high), I decided not to take any chances and put some ramshorns in with ...

Re: Imported cories from Columbia
Thanks Karsten, on another forum we were also concluding it would be delphax. This also coincides with the origin as this cory is native to Columbia. What I meant with mature is that they are ready to reproduce and as you say, at that point the colour pattern and other physical distinguishing ...

Goedenavond landgenoot!
If you click on the map that comes with the profile you can see they can be found on the border between Venezuela and Columbia (Orinoco basin) so I would say it is a possibility.

Could this be brevirostris? The snout is pretty long. They are definitively mature as they measure about 5 cms from head to tail.

Imported cories from Columbia
I love going to the Mexican fish (import) market because a lot of their fish comes from Columbia and this means inevitably corydoras during the season! they are mostly being sold under trade names (not scientific names) and most of the time they have no clue what they are selling. This has its own ...

I think you are right Silurus, and the habitat range is also correct as the County Luotian I found it in is part of the Yangtze river system.

C. cf aeneus but what about the stripe?
This fish came in with a batch of c. arcuatus. The body is currently 2 cm and with the tail it would be almost 3. It is clearly a juvenile. Some people have suggested c. arcuatus but the body colour is much more pink than my real skunks, which are cream white. Plus what about the 'extra' stripe ...

Re: Cory, looks like metae but isn't
Lieber Karsten,
Thank you.
The fish is currently around 35 - 40 mm, so pretty big already. All corydoras we get are imported from Columbia and I do not know which ones are bred in captivity or which ones are wild caught.
Thank you.

Ok, I had a look again, but it is very difficult. Either he doesn't have the barbels forward or moves to the back of the tank.
If both have the 3rd barbel, then yes, it looks more like simulatus as mine doesn't have the black 'blotch' on the flank.

I considered the siamensis, but I think it gets too big and needs more current than I will have. I am also finding confusing info about these fish. Some say that the siamensis is never seen in the trade and that most are oblongus which get to 10 cms although others say 16 as well.

Yes, you are right. I guess what I need to do is to see whether my cory has this 3rd rictal barbel. I will get the magnifying glass out!
I have another unidentified cory, which shows similarities to the septentrionalis. It would be great if it turns out that I have 2 of the same type, instead of 2 ...
