The new Pleco was purchased from a very trusted source..never had a issue.

That being said, I agree with you.. I am setting up a tank for quarantine and also a larger 40 gallon tank to house just my Plecos.. I've become quite fond of them :)

Hare are a few more shots~

Is this an L080 Peckoltia ?

I couldn't resist this little fellow today when I was at the LFS.. $5.00 dollar sale for small Plecos.. they had some bristlenoses and some commons, but just one of these. I was assured that he would only grow to 4" or so so I took him home. (Even if he gets bigger, I'll move things around so he has ...

Picklefish..

I recently got a couple of Plecos that were sold as being L66s..however, the more research I did, the more I was convinced that they are L333s.

Here are a couple differences to look for..

L66... thinner stripes, cream/white body under the stripes.
L333..thicker stripes, yellowish ...

Ed,

I did read other posts by you on this subject. but I feel I'm within reason..

My filter is a Fluval 304..good for a 70 gallon tank and Ive got half that. I think this overkill on the filter will take care of the number of fish in the tank.. The harlequins are all 1 inch long and I don't ...

My new 36G bowfront is cycled, stocked, and doing well~

I'm happy to report that the new 36 gallon tank is up and running great. It took about 4 weeks to cycle with 2 Plecos and 10 Harlequin Tetras living in it while it did that. I used some of the filter media from my old tank when I set up the new Fluval 304 and I think that helped to establish the ...

Thanks, that has some good information..

Since there is no way, no how I can get this driftwood out of the tank (it was a 45 minute chinese puzzle to get it in there thanks to a small opening on my acrylic tank) I think I'll look for a bristlenose. He'll get along with my L333s, yes?

I bought my first one in New Hampshire for $24.99 as a "Scribble" Pleco, then I went back to the same LFS and bought a second for $18.99 thanks to a repeat customer discount.

Here's my second guy in the cave he's taken over..

What about mine?

What about mine.. One board says it's a L333, one says it's a L066..
It is a little yellowish in color, which has lead some to suggest it leans more towards the L333.

What are the easily determined differences in the 2?

Can you tell for sure from this picture which it is? and what sex it is ...

The tank is fairly new. We only have my common Pleco, a Tetra and a Khuli loach in it.

I knew I wanted to find a more unusual smaller Pleco to put in the tank, but I had no idea I'd find something so cool so soon!

I don't plan on putting too much else in here.. a few marble hatchet ...

He's 4.5 inches long and was $24.99 US

It was a fair price for what I think is a stunning Pleco :D

Any ideas on sex? They had another one just like this one in the same "scribble" tank that was almost identical, but was slightly more yellow/golden.

He didn't seem interested in the algea tablets ...

I just picked up this guy..

I'm no expert, but the general opinion is that the L066 has black eyes and the L333 has golden eyes (like mine)

Thanks Ken..

The general feeling on the couple boards I posted this is that L066 has black eyes and a slightly more narrow stripe pattern.. the L333 has golden eyes (like mine)

Cheers~

I'm a new guy, just saying hi

Hi folks,

I'm Kevin.. a 39 year old guy with a strange attraction to Plecos :chuckle:

My wife got me a 10 gallon tank for Christmas in 2002 and this year we decided we were enjoying it so much that we would get a bigger setup. Our current tank has a 7 inch Common Pleco who is very active and fun ...
