L333 vs L66

Post by Picklefish »

Is there a sure fire way to tell these guys apart ? I have looked at every picture I can and at adult size they look identical to me. I have a group of 5 L333 I think. Is there a reliable way to sex them also.

Thanks Much

:D Good luck with identity. They are easily sexed when adults. :D

Even the pics in the Cat-E-Log are confusing. There is a pic of the L66 looks like L333. 4th from the top on the right hand side. Anyone ??

Picklefish..

I recently got a couple of Plecos that were sold as being L66s..however, the more research I did, the more I was convinced that they are L333s.

Here are a couple differences to look for..

L66... thinner stripes, cream/white body under the stripes.
L333..thicker stripes, yellowish/goldish body under stripes.

Here's a picture of my L333s~

and here's a picture of a L66 from another site..notice the stripe and color difference..

I will have to catch them to take some photos so it may take a day or three. In all actuallity I have 5 L333 and 4 L260. I suspect that some may be L66. Just not sure yet. At least the L200 I have is totally different.
