Re: L134's caving - possible spawn
I saw eggs in the cave this morning!! I've decided to chuck the male and his cave in a fry saver to allow the fry to move out into the fry saver. I've added an air pump into the frysaver to increase oxygen levels to help the male relax and also put a towel infront of the tank to calm the male down ...

Re: Diatom Algae Eaters?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the common brown algae you see in tanks is a diatom algae??
So there is a fair few plecos that would happily clean it up.
It all depends on the specifics of the tank, on deciding which pleco would suit your needs.

Such a magnificent project! it just comes to show what everyone dreams of doing
But just a thought, how have you managed to heat the tank in the first place? your electricity bill must be crazy as well

Karen, I'm so sorry for your loss.
It just shows the people who care and love a fish as much as they do a cat or Dog
20 years is an amazing life
This story even made me tear up a little.
A Truly most wonderful story.
Rest in peace, Kalija (beautiful name too)

Taksan makes a strong point. It's like how new people only use bn's to clean algae and dont feed them at all thinking they will only eat algae and poop on the ground. But Panaque's are more complex and a mistake is something you can learn from. Panaque's a vegetarian. I would recommend feeding them ...
