Here's my male L-134...I've encircled where the odontodes (hair-like) are located. You could see them better against the pleco's black stripes. Hope this helps. :D

Lots of water current, directly or just at the entrance of the cave...not too strong though, and water changes that would simulate the rainy season once every two or three days...perhaps you should start with that. :)

They seem to grow quite so slow. They prefer a great deal of water current and need a good amount of oxygen...my L177 is 6 inches in length, bought it last November 2002...it was 5 inches then.

120g tank...L14, L114, L25, L47, L128, L134, L27, L91, L177, L133, 2 Peckoltias, 3 L260s...and some unaccounted frys.

Some african peacocks, a blue ahli, nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus, a venustus, some jewel cichlids, a frontosa (still trying to find out where to transfer these guys)

I do prefer using substrate...coz' an established substrate would provide benefits to the enclosed ecosystem. The gravel issue would be a case to case basis as it depends on how u clean or maintain ur tank. It also adds to the aesthetic look of the aquarium...I tend to avoid using a bare-bottom tank ...

Typically the temp is about 28-29C. I do water changes twice a week...and probably right after the temp drops to 24-25C. I feed them with all sorts of food...local sinking pellets (powerbits 1 & 2), tetra bits, tetra min flakes, algae wafers, spirulina flakes, dried daphnia pellets and even bio ...

Apparently my L260s bred again in my 120g african cichlid tank...just want to let you guys know that if it happened to me twice, it could happen to you :)

My cichlids too are breeding like crazy...I've ran out of tanks, now am running out of buckets :)

Mine is about 6.5 inches in length...bought it 6 months ago when it was 4 inches...it sure grows fast for a pleco. It's not as territorial as my L114 leopardus. It'll eat anything. :D

wow...this is weird...I also have a pure white zebra. It turned white 1 week ago. It doesn't look sick or anything, I was just thinking that maybe it's a bit stressed. I think most Peckoltias have that tendency of having swollen stomachs...unlike other plecos like the Baryancistrus. You could feed them less or don't feed them at all once a week. isn't that an L128 (Blue Phantom)?

they could change from dark blue...to that translucent blue green color...depends on the mood of the pleco...and sometimes the lighting of the tank.
