adblockers, what adblockers I had read that before but totally forgot. My bad.

I never realized you could zoom the font with the scroll wheel - I have always used 'ctrl' + '+'.

I also have some issues caused by screen resolution (1600*1200). For me, the whole of the forum toolbar at the top is obscured by the planetcatfish toolbar. In order to access it I have to greatly increase the font size. kinda frustrating

Definitely better than TV!

For several years my roommates and I gave up on TV completely and set up a 55g tank instead. Instead of sitting in front of a TV being totally mindless, we would sit and look at the fish tank, talk, listen to radio programs etc. It was much better!

I am not too worried about the female being a 'he' anymore because I looked at my female Sturisoma and she has a small patch of odontodes too.

I do not know much about identifying Rineloricaria, but check out the photos of . Your fish shows the barred paired fins and ventral markings found in eigenmanni, so it could be that species. Whatever the fish turns out to be, it looks fat and happy!

Personally, I don't agree with Tullocks definition of evolution because it stresses only the development of new species. Evolution is any change in the genetic make-up of a population over time. This may not neccessarily result in the formation of new species.
I like mats' definition of evolution ...

Fish #1 and 3 definitely look like P. maccus to me as well. Fish #2 seems a bit different. It may be an atypical specimen of P. maccus or something different.

I have 5 L260 (2 male, 1 female, 2?)in a 55gallon tank, along with a trio of P. maccus and a small L81. I came across these guys in a tank of 'spotted cories' too. I got them at a Petsmart :oops: - there were only 3 however, and all female. Too bad, because they are a nice species.

They are supposedly a new species in the 'elegans group' (I think from Peru). Ian Fuller has supposedly bred them, but ...

i'm not too sure what they would be, but if they were eggs, you should be able to see the developing embryos inside after 7 days. Also, most fish eggs I have seen are spherical rather than elongate like you describe.

I guess the ultimate test will be whether they hatch into something!

Getting a bit off the topic of the identification of these fish....but does anyone know anything about where they come from? Whitewater, blackwater, etc. I am currently housing them in a 20g tall in my hard-as-rock tapwater (TDS=@350ppm). Any info would be appreciated!

I am far from an expert, but to me it looks more like an hypancistrus than a peckoltia. Might be L129?
