Need a fish recommendation

Hey all... I need some advice from the experts in this forum. My knowledge of Asian species is pretty much limited to the glass cats. I'm looking for a small species of asian catfish that I can place in a 10gal tank with a few rasboras and 2 female bettas, but I have no idea what my options are. I ...

alright!

W00t! Fish store, here I come! I finally get to use up my credit from the last batch of cories I delivered! :D

Incidentally I checked another book of mine which uses surface area as a guide rather than water volume. They go with 1" of fish per 10"^2. That sounds more like it!

Light coloration in paleatus

I've got a 20gal tank full of juveniles in my basement right now and I think I know what you're talking about... some of them appear to be very light in comparison to others. I've noticed that the fish I grow out in a tank with light-colored gravel tend to appear lighter in coloration (and their ...

One pair of blue rams, 4-5 Sterbai cories, and 5 neon or glowlight tetras

Does that sound like an awful lot of fish for a 10gal tank to anyone else?

Blue rams @ ~2" x 2 = ~4"
Sterbai cories @ ~2.5" x 4 = ~10"
neon tetras @ ~1" x 5 = ~5"

That's like 20 inches of fish in a 10gal tank, or about ...

Cory Eggs

Wow... that's a lot of eggs in a small space. At a glance I'd say that's around 40-50 eggs and all in good condition. My paleatus tend to spread theirs out a lot more, and I just have a pair too (which spawned unexpectedly in my 10gal).

If you don't have a spare pump and airstone, you can also try ...

How many are too many for a grow-out tank?

I'm raising two sets of paleatus fry in the same 20gal tank, and as they get bigger it's starting to look a little crowded in there. Its hard to count them all, but I'd say there are at least 40-50 fish in various stages of development (largest is probably around 10-12mm).

The sources I'm following ...

bloodworm in gill

In all likelihood, the worm will work itself loose. I suppose you could attempt to remove it gently with a pair of tweezers if you're concerned, but I'd be very careful not to cause more harm or stress to the fish by forcing it out.

If I was to try a removal, I'd gently net the fish and bring him ...

Favorites

Man, I'm jealous of you all... I think I'll need to set up a new tank soon just so I can get some of these little guys.

As it stands I've got every free 'inch' of my 3 aquaria housing juvenile paleatus until they're big enough to trade.

Has anyone had experience with the Brochis or Aspiradoras ...

What's your favorite Cory?

I'm curious about everyone's personal favorite Corydoras... what's your favorite breed and why?

Personally I've only had 1st hand experience with C. paleatus, but now that I've successfully raised a few batches of them I'm looking forward to trying my hand at one of the more challenging species...

Growing Out Cory Fry

Does anyone have any good tips on growing out Cory fry? I have about 6 paleatus that are just over 2 months old and they seem to have hit a growth wall at just under 15mm (which is usually the minimum size that my LFS will take them at).

Those 6 are sharing a half-filled 20gal tank with about 40-45 ...

Fungus on eggs

I'm by no means an expert, but I've had decent success at raising several broods of paleatus fry. In my research I came across a discussion about low light levels being a major benefit to hatching fry.

My 20gal grow-out tank (which also houses a mesh basket that the eggs hatch in) is situated in a ...

Nutrition for Corydoras paleatus fry

I'm in the process of raising some Peppered Cory fry and so far they all seem very healthy. I've been feeding them Hikari First Bites ( http://www.hikariusa.com/first_bites.htm ) since they consumed their yolk sacs and I've branched into frozen brine shrimp with some of the older ones, but I want to ...
