2 leopard frog's in same cave
I have 5 leopard frogs in a 38 gallon aquarium which is 36"x12". I've had them for a year this month. I don't know what sex they are. I've been growing them out to try and breed them. Tonight I saw breeding behavior. 2 of them in the same cave. I don't have a lot of fish breeding experience but I've ...

When is it safe to move L134's to a new tank?
I've been keeping fish for 30 years but I'm being overly cautious with these fish. I have a colony of L134's that I want to move to a newly set up tank. Tank has been up and running for a month and a half. It's a bare bottom tank with 2 sponge filters. I have a group of bristlenose pleco's in the ...

Leapord Frog 134 tank size for breeding?
I recently acquired 7 leopard frogs plecos and I'd like to breed them. What tank side do I need? Currently I have them in a 38 gallon which is a 3ftx1ft footprint. Is this size doable? I might not keep all the fish if I cull the males.

My cory's loose their whiskers
I can't figure out why my Corydoras always lose their whiskers. 20 years ago I kept Corydoras no problem. I kept Cory Robineae with a fine gravel substrate. During that time also kept other cory's. I'm using sand in my current set up and my group of six cory similis have lost their whiskers. This ...

Orange Zebra Otocinclus Hypoptopoma sp. Peru “Orange”
Can anyone tell me the difficulty level of these fish? I've been keeping fish for over 25 years but I'm thinking about adding some of these specimens to my 55 gallon tank. The tank isn't planted but it has lots of wood and rocks and is well established. Just wondering what the care level of these ...

Do blue phantoms eat wood?
I'm wondering if blue phantoms eat wood? I have one in a tank without wood and it seems to like meaty foods. I've seen a couple plecos over the years that didn't want anything to do with wood like my L75.
Just curious if anyone has an answer.

Synodontis Alberti
Is it common for these syno's to hide a lot? Also I can't get mine to eat and it won't come out. Any favorite foods these fish might like? It is the only fish in my 55 gallon tank. The tank has been cycled for a year. I got rid of my previous fish. PH is about 7.4 and the environment is stable. So ...

Re: Does anyone use Marineland canister filters?
I agree with Eheim being the best. I have 2 ECCO Pro 2236's that have been going strong for 10 years. Some people don't like the ECCO's but I love them on smaller tanks. Usually when I read bad things about them it's user error.

Re: The hybrid Syno thread
OK Thanks Eric These hybrids are tricky to spot. It takes a real keen eye to notice those small little differences. I got fooled on some syno's a year ago. I have two groups of syno's. One I know is lucipinnis for sure. But this new group I thought might have been a different strain from the lake ...

I posting a link to youtube of some synodontis. Are these hybrids in the video? I have some that look identical. I have 2 groups of lucipinnis. Ones like in the video have very clean defined spots and the other group I have has more blotchy spotting. Are the these lucipinnis in the video? https ...

This was sold to me as petricola. Can anyone ID this? The body color isn't as greenish as some other ones I have. also the white edge on the back of the dorsal isn't as prevalent on my other fish also. Could this be a hybrid?

Synodontis disease or something else?
I have a group of 16 syno petricola. They have some discoloration on their gill plates. The rest of their color is greenish grey but on one side of the fish it's gill plate is a lighter color. I've noticed it on a couple different synos. I've also noticed it a couple years ago on a different group I ...

Thanks for the feedback. I still have some thinking about what I'm going to do. Cool tank I'll share some pics of mine when I get it going. It's gonna be a couple weeks. Still in the planning phase. I just don't want my syno's messed with. They'rer going to be the focus of the tank.

Setting up a new Synodontis tank with Tanganyika cichlids
I recently purchased a 55 gallon tank and I want to turn it into a Tangakyika tank. For a substrate I'm planning on using Tahitian moon sand. I have about 300lbs of petrified wood to do a rock scape with. So far I have 16 baby Syno Lucipinnis. I also have 6 sub adult Julidocromis Gombi. They are in ...

Re: Lasiancistrus tentaculatus planted tank question
Thanks for the advice. I'm just worried because I have some anubias that are very old. Some of which I've had for 3 years or more. I'd hate to turn on my lights one day to find my plants chewed up. I'll just have to keep an eye our for damage.

Lasiancistrus tentaculatus planted tank question
I bought one of these catfish the other day it was kinda of an impulse buy. Anyway I put it in my fully planted 40 gallon tank. Feeding Hara jerdoni aka Anchor catfish
I have some of these catfish and I've yet to see them eat. They don't come out during feeding time. I have them with some corydoras and plecos. I've been feeding shrimp pellets and algae wafers. They look kinda malnourished. I'd hate to feed frozen food I'm allergic to touching it. I've had them ...

I have 3 pleco's a L128 Blue Phantom, a L333 Hypancistrus, and a L134 Leapord Frog pleco. My Anubia's have been developing holes in the leaves and I can't figure out why. The leaves get holes then the rest of the leaf melts away. It's mostly happening on new growth leafs. Anyone have any experience ...

Thx I was just curious because I haven't used sponge filters much. The ones I have should be enough then. I was more concerned about having enough water movement for bristlenose.

I'm gonna give breeding bristlenose plecos a try .I just purchased a new tank (30 gallons). What kind of filtration should I use? I'm planning a large 125 gallon aquarium right now. I've done a lot of research. From what I read is the aquarium wont fall through the floor. But over time ...

Re: Planning a large syno aquarium (advice needed)
I'm not a catfish expert but I've been keepin fish for many years. I've never had problems mixing fish that came from different enviorments. From my experiance most will adapt with good water quality. Take Bristlenose Plecos for example look how many people keep them with african cichlids. I'm ...
