Synodontis Alberti

Post by jd_7655 »

Is it common for these syno's to hide a lot?

Also I can't get mine to eat and it won't come out. Any favorite foods these fish might like?

It is the only fish in my 55 gallon tank. The tank has been cycled for a year. I got rid of my previous fish. PH is about 7.4 and the environment is stable.

So far I've tried shrimp pellets and algae waffers. I really don't want to try frozen foods because I'm allergic to something in them.

It's been a week since I got it and all I can see is his whiskers sticking out from behind some driftwood.

I'm thinking maybe I should add some dither fish and it might help it feel safe.

Yes. They don’t like light at all, hence the big eyes. Try bloodworm or similar but the main trick is to let the fish settle and have plenty of cover.

Post a pic of your setup?

If it is a sizeable and healthy fish, 1-2 weeks of adaptation is nothing to worry about. I rarely saw mine too but my 120 gal was heavily, heavily furnished and populated, so I did see our alberti once in a while in shaded places.

Are you allergic to freeze-dried feeds too?

I also wonder if the fish is used to small-size feed, like flakes etc. Have you tried crumbling the pellets and wafers you had offered? Also have you tried leaving them o/night in the tank?
