Re: Need L52 info from ppl with personal exp.

I've had a female for 5 years or so and she's doing great. Yes, they chew on driftwood.
On top of what Janne said, I also feed her, several times a week, blanched zucchini and yellow squash.
You can easily buy frozen cyclops online, DrsFosters&Smith, for instance, carry them.
Good luck!

Provided there are no other fish with them, you could even go for 10 in a 10g. But they are not easy to breed, be aware of that! It may be easier in a specific tank; in my community tank, I only got one survivor out of many spawns...

L168 do change their colour just as quickly that L52 do so the Aqualog is wrong, but they dont get the same colouration...yours is typical L52, L168 remains more yellowish.

Thanks for your clarification Janne :D ! I knew that this was a L52 as it looks exactly like mine (I've had her for 5 years ...

Maybe you could try to transfer the eggs in the same water as that of the tank (you take one gallon out for instance); I had the same situation as yours when I used a different water (although at the same temperature and apparently same parameters); after I changed that, I had 100% eggs that hatched ...

[What ratio of DI/tap water are you using? Is it a 50/50 mix? What DI unit do you use?

It depends on the tanks; for some I have 50% DI/ 50% tap, for others I have 100% DI (trace elements and electrolytes added afterwards). I use the Kent Marine 200 DI (3 stage filtration). All RO/DI units will ...

Aqua Dave, I live in Atlanta and I can tell you that if your water is as bad as mine, I wouldn't be too surprised. I solved my problems with a DI unit, and I mix this DI water with tap water. My older cories are more than 5 years old now, and they keep spawning.
Good luck!

You can keep hornwort in tropical tanks with no problems at all. I've had mine for years. It's really a question of acclimation time for the plant. It melts, but then it should grow back strongly.
It also depends on the water of the tank. Here, in some of my tanks (I have 10 running), it will NEVER ...

I've had a L052 for 4 years or so now. Algae on the glass doesn't seem to really interest her. I feed her with zucchini and yellow squash; she regularly gets wafers also - her favorites seem to be the ones from Tetra and Wardley. And she has plenty of driftwood, of course...

I keep apistos (I even breed them) and yes, they are not long lived but they can make it to 3-5 years in the aquarium (more than in the wild).
I would increase aeration in that tank (airstone) especially if the temp rises. However your levels are fine, that's the temp at which they breed.
Apistos ...

Nitrites should always read 0, PERIOD.
I do 20% weekly water changes on most tanks, depending on the population, and 20% to 40% daily w/c on my grow up tanks.

I've got my L052 for about a year now. He definitely loves driftwood - I have four pieces of driftwood in the tank, but he has his favorite spot. The tank is a high 40 gal, slow filtration, temp 79-80, pH 6.5.
As for the food, what he prefers above everything else is zucchini. I vary his ...
