Yep mine do too, but it's just a spot and this person was specifying a particular shaped spot. It was "V" shaped and the picture shows that. I was wondering why the "V" was significant. I finally e-mailed the seller and his response was that all his males have that red "V" shape on the head. does ...

bristlenose Markings...

I'm not sure where this needs to go, so somebody move it if it's the wrong place :)
I saw a beautiful long fin albino at aquabid.com, the seller made a remark about a red "V" at the back of the head. Of what significance is this?

My plecs and Bristlenose love the Omega One Veggie rounds. As far as fresh stuff goes they eat zuchinni, summer squash (yellow), cucumber, all types of mellons.
Also I always put their food in the same spot that way they know where to find it with out having to hunt for it.

Your bettas will most likely see the cherry shrimp as a food item :)
If your seeing a snail explosion you may be overfeeding. Snails multiply according to the food available for them. A good water change, gravel vacuum and a reduction of food should see you in good shape snail wise :)

If your concerned that it's not eating the algae wafers or not getting enough to eat try putting some raw veggies in about once a week. Mine love zucchini, cucumbers and yellow squash.

Re: Dissolved oxygen, saturation, supersaturation

I am interested in learning the advantages and disadvantages of using oxygen gas to enable an optimum DO level (both for fish-keeping and for interest's sake).

You can also make your pipes blend in a bit more by covering them in aquarium safe silicon and rolling them in the same type of substrate your using. Let the silicon dry at least 24 hrs and a little more if the substrate covering is thick. their almost invisible when you slide them under rocks and ...

I had a similar problem. My husband would say things like "You work hard all day how can you stand to come home and "work" in the tanks everynight?" I have 17 tanks and yes I piddle in them every night. His concern was that I was turning it into work. Translated into when's my time? So I started to ...

after much discussion with Jools(thanks for your patience) and research by Jools( thanks again) we have decided these aren't L45's :( we contacted the LFS we got them from (paid a pretty price for them) and after several emails still have received no response as to why they think they're L45's. so ...

eurospage- I have three tanks with sand in them and really like them, I just had to change my mind set about how to clean them :) If you just kind of wave the siphon tube above the sand it will pick up the debris without sucking all your sand out. Also some Malaysian Trumpet Snails to keep the sand ...

I usually move my Bristlenose fry(cave, dad and all) when they become wigglers. The reason I do this is so the fry don't have to compete with other fish for food. When they are all free swimming dad goes back into the tank. With daily water changes and fresh food every day there are hardly ever any ...

Frydaddy- mine do that also. I think as long as there are some fry down close to the bottom or on the sides of the tank going about their business(eating) then I wouldn't think there is a problem. If all of them were up at the top or scooting out of the water then I would do a water change to make ...

Dreamcat I believe the antisocial behavior you speak of is normal :) Corys dash to the surface and take in a tiny air bubble occasionally and as the bubble progresses through the digestive system oxygen is absorbed and the excess is released as a bubble. I have 6 albino corys, 2 Julii's and 1 ...
