hey
The Gyrinocheilus aymonieri (chinese algae eater) is the most likely culprit. With it being a new tank setup, there is most likely not much algae present. So the algae eater is going for what ever plant matter it can find.
Not certain, but it is a pretty good shot.

Hey Thanks for the advice. That was what I had planned so i will just keep going with that. One more question, how long should I wait to feed him now? Is there any risk of doing damage by feeding him too early? To follow up, he is deffinetely looking better today. His tail and side fins are tattered ...

Banjo Cats

hey you may want to knock down the temp just a little. i see you have it at 84-86. you may wany to try 78-80. this will increase the oxygenation and promote rapid beneficial bacteria growth. it will also promote the slime coat to form much more quickly, to protect the succeptible little guys. hope ...

What pleco do you reccomend?
Hi all I am going to buy a pleco soon, but I have a few questions I was hoping you could help me with. My current tank, 250 G, is housing an infant Tiger shovelnose catfish (don't worry, I only bring them up to about 12-13" size for an aquaquarium and they adopt them) and a clairias (walking ...

Hey I ve had some drift wood in a 20 Gal tank for about 3 months now and the tanins are still in the water. I believe that a carbon filter is supposed to help take care of this, however it hasn't done anything in my tank. Even with regular water changes, the colour is still in the water. I don't ...

In about 2 months the TSN, hopefully about 8-9 inches by then, the walking, probably about 11-12" by then and the pacu, size?, will be moved into a 350 gal comunity tank. (I know ...

Possible Tiger Shovelnose Issues?
Hey all I think this is the folder to post this question in, if not let me know I have had a tiger shovelnose for about 4 months now. He was about 3" when I got him and is now about 5" (length). I feed him about every 3 days on frozen bloodworms, say about the size of a finger tip to the nail. I ...
