Here is a different question.
I have several L260s that are at least seven years old going on eight. I have tried to breed them but never have had success. I am now wondering if I missed my window of opportunity. Are they now just too old?

Plecocaine
I've notice a new food that seems to really be catching on. It's call plecocaine and can be found on several internet auctions. I would like to get a history on it and if possible find out its contents. So far I have not had any luck on internet searches. As I really care what my catfish types eat I ...

Great pictures. Like the tank set up plenty of area to move around.
Never thought about changing the filters and reducing the feeding after the introduction of water changes. Thanks for the information. Look forward to seeing the pictures of the fry.

Safely Skipping Water Changes
To all: After attending last months Catfish Convention I am fired up and enthused to get on with attempt to breed L260s. This is my second attempt at trying to induce L260s to spawn. My last attempt introduced RO water over a period of 1 week with out any spawning activity. This time around I have ...

Feeding young L numbers
Would appreciate some opinions and help. My concerns are with the type of grow-out tank I have created and if I am feeding my L numbers (L399/400 and L260) with the proper amount of food. I currently have 7 L399/400,s two bristlenose, and one L260 all around 1 ½ inches to 2 inches in a 20 gallon ...

I'll be coming in from California and arriving late Friday. This will be my first catfish convention and I am looking so forward to it. I currently have 5 adults and 1 juve L260s in a 29 gallon. I know of hobbiest who breed them in 10 gallon tanks but they are very aware of and keep ideal water conditions. I like the 29 gallon tank because it is more unforgiven concerning water conditions than a smaller tank. I use a Penguin 200, an ...

Dry food for Hera Jerdoni?
Besides tubiflex worms what can I feed my hera jerdoni.
I have two about 1 inch in length. I throw in the occasional algae waffer, earthworm sticks, etc. but I have never seen them eat anything else.
What has been your experience with dry foods?

Re: boy or girl? Albino BN or not?
Looks like ansistrus sp(3). I am now starting to see more of these being offered in our local fish stores instead of the common pleco. They don't grow large and definitely do the job when called to keep your tank free of algae. Males will get agressive with each other but definitely a keeper. Also ...

Very nice setup thanks for the pictures they are very much appreciated.
Couple of questions:
How did you induce the L333's to spawn?
What are you feeding the fry?
Thanks again for the visual setup.

Pleco's feeding on hair algae
To all: I've been told (emphatically) that plecos do not feed on hair algae. Yet I've come accross an article by the Aquatic Nuisance Research Species Program (Department of Engineers) that indicates a pleco described as "Armadillo del Rio" was introduced into the San Antonio Zoo in 1962 to control ...

Has anyone else tried zooplankton for their synos
Just checking. I did a search on "zooplankton" and did n't find anything in this forum. But after wining a jar of "sweetwater zooplankton" (saltwater) in our club raffle I tried feeding my synos some and they really seem to relish the food. It's suppose to be 60% protein, and has been sterizlized ...

Re: Was sold as Syn. Multipunctatus - but what IS it?
Just talking out loud :) . If it is a hybrid would it be quite unlikely to be a multipunctatus hybrid. My understanding is that the multipunctatus is the only syno that uses the cuckoo method of breeding. Thus, how could another male or female get involved in the breeding process. Maybe its not a ...

Re: How much food for bristlenose
Here is another thought: Wait a few feedings then cut a fine slice of squash and place it in the tank overnight. See how much of the squash the BN eats overnight. This will give you a good indication of how much he is eating and needs to eat. Make sure you remove uneaten squash the next morning ...
