Catfish Convention plans and benefit auction
Sooo.... Who all is making it for sure? I just posted a thread Here about donating fish for the auction to benefit PC. Anyone else planning any donations so people can be sure to take along every dime they have? I'm planning to bring my laptop and my camera for more fish Id's, definitely! Anyone know if Hospitality Too will be serving food this year or are they just going to drop off a cooler of beer and hope we are ok? I guess that DID work last time though!
I'm really looking forward to my fish geek vacation. Who else is already having dreams about what they forgot to take?

Re: Catfish Convention plans and benefit auction
I know of three of us from Alberta that are going, everything is fully booked for me...of course every time a person wants to take off even for a few days that is when you seem to get the busiest but too bad I am going anyway.
Have not really thought about taking fish with me or bringing some back will have to put some thought into that, I was thinking of donating to PC but it will probably be a more boring cash donation.
It will be great to put a face to many names I am familiar with.

I'll be there not withstanding the early arrival of our baby who is due November 17th.
I am making plans to hook up with Dinyar & Mark in NY - we're travelling down Thursday I believe - and am really looking forward to it although I know with these things they're just an endless rush.

Glad to hear you'll make it this time Amanda! I can't guarantee much usually, but I feel totally confident saying we can make sure you have a good time at the convention ;).
Awesome Mark! Are you bringing tanks with you for housing anything? I can try to round up some tank space for a few things, I think *looks to see if Julie's standing behind her with the shoe horn*.

Re: Catfish Convention plans and benefit auction
Just another little suggestion. If anyone wants to bring along a few catfish pictures on CD/DVD or memory stick, I'd be happy to sit down with you and look at any that might be suitable for the cat-elog, maybe give a few tips on what we're looking for etc.
Also, if anyone wants to sit down with me and my laptop and edit in some data on a particular species that you have experience of, happy to do that also. I can update the live database from my laptop, so anything adding in these session will go straight out to the world.

Re: Catfish Convention plans and benefit auction
I'll be coming in from California and arriving late Friday. This will be my first catfish convention and I am looking so forward to it. Just a novice when it comes to catfish so I'l be asking a lot of questions and listening intently. I belong to several clubs in the Bay Area but I find it difficult to find "experts" here that have raised and breed catfish.
Look forward to seeing all of you.
Happy hobbying,

That was the first thing I thought of this morning! "Dang, I have to email her and find out what sort of a bribe is entailed now that I've waited til the last minute or I'm going to be paying a fortune to some taxi driver!"

Oh there will be bribery . Southwest Airlines is making my life miserable on the fish shipping front, but I'll get that figured out also ;). Beer is mandatory and I heard a rumor of tequila and margarita mix in our futures, hehe. It's going to be so much fun!

HI All
Hope you all have a great time, I know I sure did 2 years ago, (many thanks Everyone at PVAS).
I was hoping to be there myself, but recent health issues made the insurance I would have to pay unaffordable. . maybe another time..

Barbie,
Thanks for the breakdown, I think I now have all the numbers correctly allocated! I always have a bit of trouble moving between the real and cyber worlds. What remains is for me to say a big thank you to all donors and those who bought fish and books etc from them. As Barbie said, and I can do no better, you guys rock.
Cheers,
Jools
