Has anyone else tried zooplankton for their synos

Just checking.

I did a search on "zooplankton" and did n't find anything in this forum.

But after wining a jar of "sweetwater zooplankton" (saltwater) in our club raffle I tried feeding my synos some and they really seem to relish the food. It's suppose to be 60% protein, and has been sterizlized. It seems like a good candidate for a food suppliment.

Wonder if anyone else has used this on their collection and their thoughts or experiences?

it's funny you mention that. I was reading last week on some site how they found zooplankton in the stomachs of african catfish and I was wondering the same thing re feeding it to them. I was just concerned it would be so small like the daphnia and get sucked up into the filter.

Is zooplankton teeny like daphnia?

I think if it is made specifically for aquarium use (even saltwater) it's worth a try to see if they like it & occasional use probably would do much harm (?)

The product is from your side of the pond. The jar I have indicates "Sweetwater Zooplankton" a product of Luxembourg. It comes in liquid form, guess the jar is about the size of two jiggers.

I just turn off my filters and pumps during the feeding process. The fish are conditioned to start looking for food when the water movement ceases.

hmmm I should try that when I feed, sometimes the tubifex and glassworms float around and the daphnia what a mess.

my synos never seem to invert to feed or travel much at all along the water levels. course I can't see them all the time. Probably when I am work they are like synchronized swimmers and I miss it all.

I need a syno surveillance system. Not entirely kidding.

I have seen zooplankton in a dry form at the local fish stores, I would like to find frozen.
