Re: Mysterious death of Hemiancistrus subviridis
Very sad to read about the losses. By judging from your posting of water values, foods and other species in the tank my guess is - it’s something about one of the food sources that the L-200 arent taking as good as the other plecos. Especially wildcaught fish(not plecos) for me have died when i ...

I have the same experience with my Panaque Maccus. When females is getting intrested in breeding they hang around the cave entrance, so its a good sign as I think it's the same with most species.

Re: Sexing my L-204, please help?
I say male because of the odontal growth. From my own experience with Panaque only males grows odontals like that. Though I hope it's a female

If only judging from that photo I would say female. Not so sharp photo so its difficult to see any odontodal growth.

Re: Panaque maccus spawning video...
Very good news Mats!! And great that you could film it
There may be eggs in there even if you can't see them, the male can really HIDE them. If he is very far in the cave and never comes out it is a good sign.
Keep us updated!

Re: Panaque maccus - Preparing to spawn??
It seems to be typical spawning behaviour for P. Maccus. The female seems to hang just outside the alpha male's cave for some time before spawning. When the male is ready he will let her in. When two male fights over a cave it doesnt last too long.

When they are small fry they can also eat some algaes. But it's not their first pick of food.

Thanks Apistomaster! Yes, you are probably right that they will take a hiatus after this spawning. Here's some photos that shows the development the days after hatching. All 30 fry is still alive. http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh28/Griparn/day2.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh28 ...
