Bristlenose and Plants?
Hello everyone. It's been a while since I have posted. I have been crazy busy trying to keep up with all the babies 2 pair of common bristlenose can make. I swear I am going to start calling them convict cichlids... LOL! Anyway it has been a very long time since I have kept plants but I was digging ...

BN Genetics question
So, my biggest male albino bristlenose bred with on of my brown bn females. So, the resulting offspring were all brown but, does that mean that the brown babies hold the albino genetics? If I breed them to an albino in the future will the offspring from that combo be brown, albino or a mix of both ...

Re: What Causes Panaque Plague?
Never heard of Panaque plague before. Jools I had never heard of it either until I saw those few pages on it so, it kind of confused me as to what exactly it was and weather or not it is a big problem with Panaque species. But, if even the experts on here have not heard of it then it probably isn't ...

What Causes Panaque Plague?
I have recently begun to keep Panaque species. I purchased my first L190 a few weeks ago. As, I was reading about how to possibly breed them I ran across several pages that refer to Panaque Plague. Now, my fish does not have this disease and I hope they never will, through an impeccable water change ...

Wrong ID....Maybe...
So back in Oct 2012 I got these fish. I originally thought that they were Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus and several others confirmed my ID. They were being sold as Hypostomus plecostomus which I knew 100% that they are not. Now, here is my problem. They were bought at roughly the same size as my albinos ...

Re: bristlenose question
I would say $40 - 50 for the pair. Maybe for a proven pair, but seeing these have yet to spawn I would say less. Yeah, now that I think about it I have to agree with nvcichlids, $40 - 50 would be too much for a non proven pair. Aquabid has blue eyes for sale from time to time. Maybe $25 - 30 if ...

What are people using as hides and caves for there plecos? Currently I am using flower pot saucers for my L14. I plan on getting a group of 200 s and more L14 so wanted to see what others are using. Thanks I just posted instructions on how to make your own. They are working great for me so far ...

Deformed Fry Question
This issue is probably nothing to be concerned about as it is only affecting 1 fry but, I thought I would ask just to be safe. My Common Bristlenose recently bred. They are albino, I don't know if that has anything to do with the issue or not but, I thought I would add it. Now, as I said before it ...

Re: L-200
In my opinion the Hemiancistrus subviridis is a harder species to find as I have Very rarely seen them for sale. I have seen the Baryancistrus demantoides on aquabid on a fairly regular basis. I have also heard tell that Hemiancistrus subviridis is a little hardier species although I don't know that ...

DIY Clay Spawning Caves. Instructions with Pics.
Just thought I would show everyone how I recently made some spawning caves for my bristlenose plecs. What you will need. 1.75 lbs of clay. You can get this from your local crafts store. 1.75 Lbs will make 4 caves. A piece of wax or freezer paper to work the clay on (The clay WILL STAIN COUNTER TOPS ...

Re: Eggs. Second Time. Still no guarding male.....?
I have wigglers! Man I am excited! Even the 6 that got kicked hatched! My fist successful plec breed ever! Normally, when eggs are kicked out in small groups like this, I use a turkey baster and kick them back in. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't, but it's definitely better than I could ...

Re: Eggs. Second Time. Still no guarding male.....?
Male what? Do you have a cave somewhere? He could just be kicking some of the eggs out, or the females can be squabbling and kicking out the eggs while trying to get in the cave. Barbie Male bristlenose sorry. There are 2 pair of bristlenoses in the tank. There are 4 pvc caves plus a hole in the ...

Just some pics of my bristlenose plecs. Mostly the biggest female. Also one male has definitely appeared (not pictured). The bristles on his face are really starting to show and he is chasing all the other fish from a hole in the driftwood but no eggs are currently present in the driftwood hole/cave ...
