Not from what I've heard. If you want to increase your chances of seeing a hiding catfish, you can setup a hiding place next to the side of the glass/acrylic.

Re: Fish Trapped [Resolved] aka Dangers of Fake Logs
I had a pleco get stuck in the bottom of a fake root. I know plecos like to wedge themselves places, however I'm fairly sure this pleco was stuck because I hadn't seen him for days. At first when I found a caudal fin sticking out, I thought he was dead. When I was lifting it out of the water, the ...

Re: Featherfin Catfish, do they get along with pictus cats?
I think if they have enough space and hiding places, it could work out. Don't the pictus cats get around six inches themselves?.

Re: the Reason for the Seasons. why we ignore them?
Taratron , Possibly I should explain, I was not interested in a breeding project for the sake of a breeding project. If I was, I would not have chosen Synodontis Eupterus, a catfish that costs about $8-12 retail. I would have carefully selected a more valuable synodontis species for a breeding ...

Re: the Reason for the Seasons. why we ignore them?
I appreciate this thread. It makes me sad because I have so many unsuccessful breeding attempts. I just have to know to remind myself it doesn't change anything, just that I may know the source of the failures. If I didn't have mystery problems , I would love to take this advice and use it towards ...

The role of diseases and beahvior?.
I had mentioned that I was thinking of giving away some fish having mystery behavior problems due to gas money. The reply I got was nobody wants a bunch of old sick fish. This got me thinking, do fish diseases cause longer term behavior problems?. I know diseases can lead to more immediate behavior ...

Re: syno polli white
Finding different colored synos around here is a mystery. Everywhere I ask, people say what's a custard cat?. Even more so...What's a synodontis?. So it doesn't get very far. But since I probably wouldn't get one unless one died and possible not even then, more of a curiousity.

Mine have had the whole range of care. Once I separated from my parents and didn't drive there for four months. I would probably have stayed away longer if it wasn't for the catfish. I've had my share of accidents and mistakes with this tank too. Such as last spring when I had an ammonia problem due ...

Re: Info on hemorrhagic septicemia?
I have been feeding earthworm sticks supplemented with brine shrimp sticks and also some seafood flakes. The sticks are brand new from Ken's but the seafood flake is fairly old, like over 1 year. Whats the shelf life of flake food? I think it's about six months. I have some older food I got with a ...

I can't see it as healthy for fish to constantly have open sores so I keep hoping for a resolution before an infection gets in those wounds. Even if wounds heal up, they aquire new wounds. I have not heard a peep from my new job so without it, I cannot get them the protection of a UV sterilizer. I ...

Signs of illness in plecos?.
Having all these mystery issues and a sick fish in my synodontis tank makes me want to be more prepared when my plecos fall ill. As far as I know, the plecos are doing wonderfully right now...but so were the synodontis before some mystery factor came into play. So to be clear, I don't think I have ...

OK, it seems the fighting is less fierce lately. More little scratches and fin nipping. While they still huddle in the corner, now it seems only four are there huddling. This strange huddling behavior seems to be part of whatever the root of the problem is. I noticed they seemed to be getting darker ...

I understand downsizing must be done and choices must be made. Personally something drastic has to happen for me to give away synos or certain plecos. Even with the fighting, I was thinking...Hmm, can I get them a larger tank?...

No problem, ask away.. No, not much traffic, they are in the basement. However there is a cat that likes to sit near the tank and watch them. There is a washing machine somewhat near by, however that has always been there. No background, I used to have one many years ago, I think it was falling down ...

I think if the cause of their sudden aggression towards each cannot be corrected, it would be for the best as I cannot provide them with a larger tank. I did find a link with synodontis who like mine lived together peacefully for years and then suddenly started fighting. Not sure how well this ...

Re: Next breeding attempt with clown plecos ( I hope).
I bred mine with a large number of adults all in the same tank, I believe it works well as there is competition for them to breed they are more likely to do so. My tank was LOADED with various types of driftwood and more caves of various sizes than actual fish. It was a tank that I "lovingly ...
