Next breeding attempt with clown plecos ( I hope).
Next clown pleco breeding attempt is in the planning stages. Clown plecos look wonderful, unlike my other catfish tank. Always nice to have some fish doing good when there's a disaster going on in another tank.
I have eight clown plecos in two separate fifty five gals. I hope I can start a dry season soon and maybe I can make my breeding attempt in Feb.
Still need some small wish list items such as TDS meter and need to resolve the issue of how to soften the water for a wet season to happen.
I have two twenty gal long breeding tanks for the hopeful baby plecos. I hope to try a trio or pair in both tanks.
I guess if this doesn't work( there have multiple attempts to breed clown plecos already) ...I guess I can't breed clown plecos in this water and need to stop :head bang: and

I bred mine with a large number of adults all in the same tank, I believe it works well as there is competition for them to breed they are more likely to do so.
My tank was LOADED with various types of driftwood and more caves of various sizes than actual fish.
It was a tank that I "lovingly neglected" and I produced over 700 fry from 20+ adults in a couple of years.
I will hunt about for some pics if you like.

I have had a hunt around and I can not find any of the tank set up, but here is the result after 9 months from breeding starting to removing as many as possible for a wholesale seller down here. End result was 236 ranging from 3cm to 7cm.
Tank was a 6x2x2, the logs were 99% ceramic ones with a 3-5cm opening and ranging from 15 to 25cm long.

Some of the larger ones I raised and added back as breeders into the colony.
