Re: Cories with Large Plecos?

addressing your question in regards to large plecos and cory cats. i have personally kept them together for decades and without a problem between the two that i have ever noticed.if ever there are two catfish species that truly compliment each other, it would be plecos and corys.i truly can't say ...

Re: Which Royal pleco do I have

im sort of confused also and have asked the same question on different occassions.as little as 15 yrs ago it seems all royals were easy to spot in dealers tanks because of the same basic football shape and those highly identifiable "royal pinstripes". as of late, enter the spotted royals, striped and ...

Re: Oxydoras niger VS Megalodoras irwini, pls help!

all of the info is clearly on the money.i love my oxy "mr. snuffleupagus" as my grand daughter calls him.he is the center of attention in my biotope tank. he hides in his large sewer pipe until the algae wafers hit the water, then the show begins. he really identifies with us and is a family pet in ...

Re: GOOD TANKMATE?

take a look at oxydoras niger they get fairly large but your tank might be able to house one. they are a very interesting, gentle doradid; that would blend easily with the doradids you already have.any of the larger loricarii would also be a nice addition. for midwater and upper layer occupants the ...

Re: Trying to decide on a pleco

i love black sand i always use it myself. it makes the tank look so magical, and gives it a lot of depth.my favorite plec is p.nigrolineatus, but for more contrast i'd choose h.zebra, they would look killer on black sand. or try panaque sp.L397,the bright orange and black would really pop.or just go ...

Re: Best algae wafer??

i have always used hikari, but have interchanged with wardley from time to time.i am considering omega one spirulina for cost effectiveness and quality. i have heard they are great when spawning and my herd of myleus rubripinnis cant get enough of algae wafers anyway. all in all i dont think there's ...

Re: Am I a hybrid pim?

that is a really good question! i have one that i picked up about a year ago sold as a pictus but now it is 10" t.l. i have changed it's i.d. in my mind 5 or 6 times, but have come to strongly settle on p. maculatus. my other thoughts were p.pictus,p.albofaciatus p.clarias, among a few others. you ...

Re: Lamontichthys llanero tank setup?

oh yeah, tank size. by themselves or alone? for about 8-10 with a few angels and 6 or so cory cats. i'd say 90 gallon tank with as much underwater wood as you can purchase.by themselves,75 gallons is great and i wouldnt go much smaller than a 65 high, due to the long fin extensions. hope this helped ...

Re: Lamontichthys llanero tank setup?

from the sucker mouth, and the long filaments on the pectorals and caudal, and high dorsal fin; i dont think this could be a digger.the body just dosent seem powerful enough. a lot more delicate. like something in the whiptail pleco group.i would feed algae. spiulina wafers.and maybe bloodworms ...

Re: perruno catfish

I have very very fond memories of our Perruno cat "Bigboy". We had him from the size of 4-5 inches to 36 inches; about 9 years. He was as big around as a 5lb. coffee can, and never, ever bothered any other fish in his custom 6x3x3 foot tank. That is as long as he wasn't being fed algae wafers! That's ...
