GOOD TANKMATE?

Post by sequoiacat »

What is a good catfish to add to these tankmates: 1 Black Ghost Knife, 3 Giant rapheals, 2-3 Spotted Rapheals. In a tank with these dimensions:300 Gal
63" x 69" x 25" , filtration 30 gallons with 600gph ruuning through it.

I guess too many - too broad of a question. People do not know where to start?

take a look at oxydoras niger they get fairly large but your tank might be able to house one. they are a very interesting, gentle doradid; that would blend easily with the doradids you already have.any of the larger loricarii would also be a nice addition. for midwater and upper layer occupants the possibilities are endless.

A bit of a squeeze in my mind... It should really have about 120" length - it helps that the tank is more square than usual.

obviously it depends on relative sizes - an adult hemisorubim & a juv BGK are not a good mix but BGK get huge, too big for most tanks so potentially a good mix.

IME the hemisorubim is a better big pim to keep than most others: smaller (20"), less skittish, less Out-&-out predatory - ie less likely to target tankmates when not being watched, less of a swimmer & IMHO better looking

Thanx, Richard. Never ever seen one for sale in any of the LFS. Never on-line, but never looked on line thoroughly. Maybe one day... they are pretty.
