Nope I've never had any problems. I have a theory that it could be to do with how much you feed it - a lot of waste could lower the pH. Mine eats a small meal every 2-3 days (like a few earthworms) or a large one every week (lancefish). I would love to test that though. Others say they ...

Centromochlus Romani - spawned a few times. I have about 20 little ones growing up right now :D

I should have mentioned that SC article too. A very good read indeed.

Older literature often has many poor identifications - luckily we have resource available like PC which can identify species correctly & address discrepancies where they occur

Agreed with Silurus - the shape of the head, colour, lateral line and lack of numerous cirri all suggest C. bankanensis. Most of the aquarium literature however have pictures of C. bankanensis labelled as C. chaca, especially older stuff.
