Whatever species, that substrate is far from ideal, small round grain sand is what should be used for Chaca species

he is now in a tank with sugar (feather) sand which he constantly burys in, so often that I rarely see him that's why Ive posted these pics from when I first got him and he was still in quarantine

Coloration and the general pattern of the fimbriae on the head suggests that this is .

Agreed with Silurus - the shape of the head, colour, lateral line and lack of numerous cirri all suggest C. bankanensis. Most of the aquarium literature however have pictures of C. bankanensis labelled as C. chaca, especially older stuff.

I should have mentioned that SC article too. A very good read indeed.
