Re: what kind of pleco is this
There is no way these fish are 3-4", look at the size of your fingers. Unless you are a giant, your measurements are WAAAY off. Not to mention one has yellow hues, i would think you might have 2 species.

Re: Breeding L316 in 35 Gallon?
You should have no issues breeding just about any hypan in a 35 gallon tank. I have seen it with hypans and ancistrus breeding int he same tank, but if you truly are looking to breed, it should be a species only tank.

Re: ID this cat fm Colombia
bad question, but is it possible that the picture in the catelog had a fin snip taken, making the tail a deeper fork than it really was? I know nothing about fin snip sample things.

Re: Is this mystery pleco supposed to be here?
Not to mention the genus this fish falls into has a TON of brown plecos in it. I'm by no means trying to be disrespectful, but I am more willing to help if someone is willing to help back. We requested a little more information to try to narrow it down and then we can start giving ideas. If you can ...

Re: Flat Pleco w/Wide Head
It's too flat, and also you can see where the bristles will grow around the head. Jools will grow, meaning at 9" it has yet to grow bristles? So we should be looking at ancistrus as they are the bristlenoses, and can be relatively flat. What about a Ancistrus sp(l071) .. not the right distribution ...

Without looking up L#'s, this fish looks awfully similar to many already out there? Is there a reason why this is a different species, or, could it be it was now found in another part of the amazon?

Odd that they would deliberately introduced a non-native generalist carnivore. Not really. Many state's fish and wildlife departments will set up control locations to check the viability of non-native species, such as the red-tail cat, to see if they can survive winters. Did you know there is ...
