uhm...spirulina is a kind of seaweed/algae? and that IS a major substance in many pl*co-foods. I can imagine them finding spirulina and other kinds of algae in their natural habitat, but seaweed seemed a little unusual! That said, the folded sheet I put in the tank had dissapeared by the following ...

Seaweed for plecos?

I thought it would be interesting to try some Ocean Nutrition 'seaweed selects' for plecos so I bought a pack today- I haven't put any in the tank yet but just wondered if anyone had tried feeding plecos seaweed. I can't imagine there is much seaweed in their natural diet! I'm guessing it will ...

Great looking plec the L155- I have one but it is only around 4" -has grown quite a bit in the time I have had it though. They do not seem that easy to get hold of, but this is probably a good thing considering the max size they reach.......

The most outgoing and confident plec I know of is the L75, mine spends most of its time out and about and all the L75's I have ordered in (as an aquatic retailer) have been the same- one of the best selling plecos I know of as they are always out for people to see. My L200 seems a pretty friendly ...

Yann, thanks for your reply. I quarantine new fish for 2 weeks before adding to main tank. Strangely they all seem to be behaving normally now, but I don't want to risk losing any more. The water change did not make a difference as they still seemed unwell after I did it. I will keep a very close ...

Hi Yann, The velvet problem happened about 2 weeks ago when I added 2 new discus. They had the last lot of treatment about 5 days ago, and no longer have velvet. The first death occured about a week after treating the tank. The L114 was originally in the tank but I removed it when it looked unwell ...

Mystery Illness

Really hoping someone can help me out here..... I have sadly lost a plec and seem to be about to lose another. I have a number of different plecos in a large (100G) aquarium and have never had any problems with their health, but I found one dead a few days ago, and noticed the others just sat about ...

Thanks for the ID, I will try and take a better photo of it- shouldn't be difficult as it is always out and about at the front of the tank. I paid £7.50 for it and was told it was wild caught.

Picked up this pleco today, bit of a mystery to me though. Is it a King Tiger, Queen Arabesque or some combination of both? it is spotted and striped, and looks unlike either my King Tiger or Queen Arabesque..... http://community.webshots.com/photo/119976499/161572121YTkyvI http://community.webshots ...

I'm glad this is considered normal behaviour as I often catch my L190 lying on his back in the slate cave he inhabits, he seems to just not bother 'hanging on' to the underside of the slate. I did think he was dead when I first saw it!

I would certainly buy at least 4 (depending on the price!) as they are really hard to get hold of and even if they don't breed it is really nice to have them. I would suggest a 3" / 3.5" tank with either an external or internal Fluval filter (again depending on how many you buy) Fluval filters seem ...
