Can anyone ID this plant?

Post by Loric »

Just hoping someone might know what species of plant this is, I bought several bunches for my 85G but cannot find out exactly what it is. Seems to be doing really well and I would like to get more, any suggestions are very welcome

Looks a bit like Najas indica, Egeria najas
but even more like Heteranthera zosteraefolia

hard to say!
Najas has those very fine leaves, but is usually more "open structured"
H zosteraefolia has those dense tops, but usually has slightly broader leaves......

nice plants btw! looking extremely healthy

Thanks sidguppy, I have now been told it is a fairly new species of plant, someone said 'tonia' or something like that...... hmmm, this could be tricky to ID! I have looked long and hard but cannot find any species that matches up. I'll have to keep looking!

I would say a good example of Heteranthera zosteraefolia when its given the right conditions.

I'm not the best at plants, trying to get better. However, based on the plants I have seen, I would have to agree that it looks like Heteranthera zosteraefolia. And a nice outcropping at that! :)
