Re: New Synodontis decorus not eating
If frozen shrimp or bloodworms don't work the loss of appetite could be from a parasite.

Re: Would it be safe to...
I bought the Sperata at just under 4 inches as an African shovelnose and was told that it only grows to about 8 inches, its now 10 inches but is not yet aggressive to anything it can't eat. It currently gets along with a Synodontus Decorus and several cichlids. When it gets too big I will have to ...

I currently have a 10 inch long TL Sperata Aor in a 125 gallon, 6 foot long tank. Do you know if it would be safe to put a 4 inch TL Parachromis Dovii in there or would the Dovii cichlid be likely to get eaten

Re: RE: Anaspidoglanis macrostoma
Nothing wrong with it yet. I have had this species in the past and they were eating and all and then one day I would just find them dead. My water ,ph and temp were good. They got a variety of food. I'm hoping I do better with this one.

RE: Anaspidoglanis macrostoma
I recently aquired a small one and in the past I had lost a couple of these fish when they were young in the past. I've been told that they were wild young and imported from Africa. Will I need to dose them with something for parasites even though I don't see anything wrong with the fish....yet ...

Re: At what size does Sperata Aor start to become intolerant
My S. Aor is now about 8 inches long and I moved him into my 125 gallon. He still only comes out occassionally during the day in quicky searches for food at feeding time. He is still a very skinny looking catfish but he is eating.

Thanks Shane
I'll take your advice and when I get the Royal Pleco I'll put him in a 55 gallon with my red hooks until I eventually getthe trout cichlids to spawn and then I might get some choclate cichlds which should get along in a somewhat softer environment.

Could a royal Pleco go in a tank with a pair...?
Could a small Royal Pleco go in a 125 gallon six foot tank with a pair of 6-7 inch ancistrus cats. The ancistrus cats have only bred once and since then they have been hanging out at opposite ends of the tank. There is also a Syn. decorus and some cichlids in there. The tanks has some driftwood ...

I had a spotted doradid cat(looked like agamyxis pectinfrons)that lived for about 16 years,we called him grunter. His eyes developed an opaque film on them for about half those years but none of my other fish came close in age. I don't know the life span of clarias cats though.

Then I might be able to eventually put him in my 125 gallon with my Syn. Decorus,a pair of ancistrus, and some cichlids.

I have a Synodontus decorus and a pair of ancistrus
The Synodontus decorus needs to be given a cave of his own and fed before the lights go out. My ancistrus hide behind rocks and slates. They are kept with Trout cichlids (Champsochromis ceruleus) and aa pair of longimanus cichlids in a 6 foot 125 gallon tank. And while not a catfish, 3 Botia Modesta ...

At what size does Sperata Aor start to become intolerant
I waw wondering at what size does a Sperata Aor become intolerant of other catfish. I have one that is just under 3 inches in a 55 gallon with some other larger fish. Currently he's not as aggressive as either a Mystus nemurus or a Mystus leucophasis but he does have an appetite.

I think you hit it on the head
It looks just like the sperata aor silver colored juvenile pictured in your cat-e-log except that the adipose spot is smaller. It also has a touch of white on the edge of some of the fins that my fish also has. But I thought that the LFS manager said that his supplier gets them from Africa. And the ...
