H. fossilis pose danger to tankmates?

Post by featherback »

Have anyone ever experienced or heard that Heteropneustes fossilis has kille ather fish by stinging them? Either during territorial fighting or when predated upon?

I am worried about adding one to my collection because of this.

I have kept H.Fossilis in a tank with numerous other cats & had no problems whatsoever - the only problem i ever encountered with them when i worked in a lfs was heater burns to the fossilis when they were crowded & there was inadequate cover for them.

with cihlids a number of yeas ago and if he got spooked he would occasionally scrape himself on some of the rougher rocks or maybe the slates in the tank.
