Horabagrus Brachysoma

Recently got these from a friend. They're really interesting and graceful swimmers. Very shy, come out only at night or if they sniff some food.

Thanks Viktor and really sorry for the late reply. I am a native fish enthusiast basically. I also like catfish and have quite a few varieties of them. I breed betta and keep Snakeheads too. Here are some pics:

Lets start with catfish

1.) Asian stone catfish, Hara Jerdoni:
Grow upto 3" only. Eats Frozen blood worms, live bloodworms, Frozen shrimp. Not shy of light. Sense of smell is very good for it's size. Very sluggish swimmers and can be outcompeted for food very easily.

2.) Mystus Canarensis:
Grows upto 8-10" (wild), eats anything edible that is dropped in the tank. Very shy and comes out only with the smell of food. Very good at hiding and fantastic swimming abilities.

3.) Sturisoma Festivum and red lizard catfish:





There is an Ancistrus as well, but no good pics of it, sorry.

I would love to share the pics of the other tanks too, but since this is a catfish forum, will seek advice of the admins before I do so.

Lovely tanks, good to see a hobbyist with an inclination towards native species. What do you keep with the Horabagrus, they tend to gobble up any small fish. The M.canarensis will max out at around 6-7 inches TL.






The largest specimen currently with me, measured back in 2011 or so.

Thanks. That's a lovely lovely mystus!!!! Thanks for sharing. I keep the Horabagrus with arulius barbs, melon barbs and filament barbs. My mystus looks just like that now, but can hardly click a photo of it. It's always hiding.

I will need your help in selecting some species for my upcoming 6' native catfish only tank. Maybe with a few filament barbs.
