put the fish in an apropriate size bucket and put a piece of paper on the surface of the water and they will go to sleep and not wake up i t also happens slow enough that the fish doesnt usually become frantic but it is basically a carbon dioxide method usually takes 3-6 hours

Mela fix will help but you need marycin in the liquid form and folow the directions i dont believe marycin 2 will do it might be caused by gram negative bacteria in which case if marycin 1 doesnt work you can try 2 give him some black worms to keep his strengh up and maybe some brine shrimp pellets ...

Dont give up yet i agree with Raccco neat that he picked up on the nitrate thing too and agree with his summation of trying the bristle nose i wish i could get one i have wanted one for 20 years and can not get them where i live they are a fascinating fish

hey i forgot to ask how old is you tank ? you say you have 0 nitrates? cant grow much algae if that is the case an wild caught arent often able to eat mush else for some time they have to learn to take other foods and wile they are learning they need natural food to keep them going try black worms ...
