I haven't heard of that med here, but malachite green and formalin are available. I hate to use those meds with plants in my tank -- and I have nice plants in there. I don't want to move him to a quarantine tank because I just moved him to his 29 gallon and I think he's been stressed. This bothers ...

cloudy eye CAE
My CAE routinely attacked my gourami, who has passed away from the wounds now (I didn't realize it was occuring often util I saw the sore on gourami's side). Anyway, this CAE for a long time has acted like he was blind, always hunting around for his algae wafers if I didn't put them exactly in the ...

Well, yes they were quite small and could have been raised. They looked like tiny white spots, much bigger than ick, one on each fish in the same place. 2mm sounds about right. They haven't come back in awhile, but it is nice to be able to at least point to Epistylus as to what it is. That's the ...

"Epistylus Observations: Balls of fungus, usually located on dorsal and/or pectoral spines. Conditions: Epistylus grows on gravel and moves onto fish with injured spines. Fish Affected: Corydoras, Pimelodellas, any armored catfish, and iridescent sharks are especially prone, although it can occur in ...

Guess what folks??? I was peering at my plants in that 10 gallon quarantine tank and there he was - an adorable little cory baby!!!! I was soooo surprised. I hadn't removed any of the fungused eggs nor have I done any water changes, so I quickly tested the water and it was 0 ammonia (thanks I'm sure ...

I got the Methylene blue, but I guess I was too late. Most had fungus in the short amount of time it took me to have dinner with a friend, go to the LFS, and come back home (ok, so the LFS and friend were an hour and a half away). I have my fingers crossed that at least one is OK, but I don't think ...

Well, I used bigger pipes, and they worked fine. I only put the gravel on the top, and burried the bottom into the substrate just a bit. My CAE loves his cave. I found it easier, if using aquarium sealant, to actually dab the sealant on each piece of gravel, then stick it on -- yes, that is more ...

Thank you for your reply. I'm in North Carolina, USA, and I unfortunately moved the eggs (well what was left) into my 10 gallon uncycled tank. Most of the eggs were eaten. I really didn't think my fish would eat the eggs because they don't eat snail eggs -- but I was pretty sure they would eat any ...

Well, they are corydoras aeneus. I have no idea what I will do with the babies, but I don't want them eaten. "Live food" is not something in my vocabulary. I have a 20 gallon I can eventually keep them in, but it is being used as a Quarantine tank at the moment for 2 neon tetras. I put the plants ...

I've recently found those little igloos made for small rodents, and I thought they would make great caves too. I bought one but haven't glued the gravel on it yet. My cave turned out great and my Chinese Algae Eater has taken it for his own -- so I have to make something else (the igloo) for the ...

feeding fry and uncycled tank
My cories spawned last night, not something I thought would happen, and I'm not prepared. I have an uncycled 10 gallon that I just put plants in (the plants are in a tupperware full of Onyx Seachem sand -- long story -- sitting inside the tank -- the rest is barebottomed). Can I use that? Would I ...

I've wondered that, and was told in another forum that it was not lymphocystitis. However, for lack of another diagnosis -- maybe I will treat for it. Quick cure says it treats lyphocystitis ...I was hoping others would have had similar experiences, especially because this spot on both fish is very ...

no, it is not ick. It appears to be specific to cories and is only in one place -- the place I described. It does not affect any other fish nor do I need to medicate it for it to go away. It DOES NOT SPREAD to any other place on the cory. It is IN THE SAME PLACE ON BOTH CORIES. I want to find an ...

Cory parasitic disease?
I've had a reappearing disease on my two corydoros aeneus for a while now. It is a small white spot on the dorsal fin where it meets the fish's back. I've tried various meds, none of which work, although I have not used parasitic meds except ick meds. They always go away after awhile, but I want to ...
