My L128 and L200 were close to 3" when I got them and they definitely had spots. The L128 has gotten more spots as it has gotten bigger though.

Pleco ID

Hi, could anyone tell me what type of pleco this is? It seems to have maxed out at about 5" and has a very short, stubby body. It also looks very "furry" I guess you would say.

Thank you!

Another possible L66/L333 to i.d.

Hi everyone, I just picked up this pleco and was hoping to get an i.d. on him/her. It looks to me like it could be an L66/L333 but I'm not that great at identifying. I would appreciate any input! Thanks. :) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v70/westwood/fish/109_0987.jpg http://img.photobucket.com ...

This is my L128. The color in the photograph is very close to what he normally looks like. He hasn't changed color since I got him, but it seems he has gotten quite a few more spots on him.

Hi Yann, thank you for the identification! Could you tell me what traits of the fish lead you to think that it is a leporacanthicus cf galaxias instead of the LDA33? I'm not doubting your i.d., just trying to learn more about the fish. Thanks again!

Thank you for all the information! I do have a 120 gallon tank which they could go into once they are larger, but for now they are in a well planted 20 gallon for observation. Gold nugget and vampire (?) I.D.

Hi, I recently picked up these two plecos and was hoping someone could positively i.d. them for me. I'm sorry the pics are pretty bad, but the tank has some huge amazon swords in it which make the tank very dark. I can try later tonight to get some better ones if need be. The first one I believe is ...

I happened to catch my L128 hanging out at the front of the tank and managed to snap a pic before he returned to his hiding spot, so I just thought I would share. It's definitely the best pic I have of him/her so far! :D

If you're looking for a smaller species of cory you could do pandas. They seem to be fairly easy to find at local stores and they stay rather small, 1.5" or so I believe. I had 4 in my 20 gallon and they have happily bred in the tank and I am now up to 8. :)

Fungus on L264?

I happened to catch my L264 sultan pleco out in the open during feeding and noticed he has two small white spots underneath his eye. Does anyone have any ideas as to what this is? I posted on another forum and they suspected a fungal infection and suggested treating with Maracyn. Has anyone else ...

If you have a python I find it works much better if you take off the large extension tube and use just the slim tubing for siphoning off waste. You get much better suction.

Treating L200 for ich

I bought an L200 a few days ago and today I see that he has ich. Luckily he is in a 7 gallon quarantine right now, but I would like some advice on how to treat this guy. I am gradually increasing the temp to 82 degrees, and will leave the tank lights off and close the curtains by the tank. Will he ...

L114 compatibility

Hi, I am thinking of getting an L114 from my lfs but he/she is still very small, under 2" probably. Would it be possible to temporarily house him in a 20 gallon tank with an L260 queen arabesque until he gained some size? I am planning on keeping him in my 55 gallon eventually but I do have some ...

Pleco for a 7 gallon bowfront?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a pleco which could live in a 7 gallon bowfront tank for life. I have read through quite a few species profiles but haven't really seen anything that would stay smaller than about 4", which still seems large for this size tank. Is there a ...

After reading some of the recent posts about the scribbled pleco vs. the queen arabesque I have begun wondering if I even have the correct i.d. on my own pleco.
