Post by Mika »

Found these via internet
There was some discussion about this species some time ago. Has someone seen this in LFS?

Hi,

ok here are some guesses from a non Loricariid specialist:
First is a Liposarcus/Glyptoperichthys/Pterygoplichthys, might be a VERY young G. gibbiceps.
I just realized you already wrote Acanthicus adonis albino, didn't see before  ... so i edited this post. I agree with A. adonis albino, due to the missing adipose fin.

Greetings,

Achim

The first one looks to be a very small fry, maybe of gibbiceps type? The second one appears to be an albino adonis, no?

The first one (red spot in tail) is a very pretty wild caught fish from Peru that grows up to look like most other Glypto's. i.e. A shade of brown with another shade of brown spots.

Albino adonis are available from time to time, I suspect they are being captive bred. Prices are still very, very high. Certainly I know of captive spawnings of A. adonis.

Fish Available

Post by Stuey »

hi again everyone,

Calder Valley Koi Aquatic Centre has a tank full of the fish shown in the first picture.

These came on a shipment from Peru about 3 weeks ago and are now out of quaranteen.

The fish are about 1.5" in length and are absolute little stunners.

Not sure if they have priced them yet
