Cory Axelrodi
Had some delivered to Fish Centre where I work as unknown corys, ID'ed them as Axelrodi. How commonly available are they in UK, anyone have any idea? Unfortunately they arrived in very poor shape and have had high mortality rate (I had first dibs on them but they've dropped like flies over last few ...

Acanthicus have lots of barbs/spurs down the flanks, I have an Acanthicus Hystrix @ approx 10" now and asides from colouration and the lyre tail he is a lot different in 'texture', having a slimmer tail as well. On a related note, I've seen the pic of the big Acanthicus Hystix (old photo) on the ...

I managed to get 2 from Wharf in Pinxton (my lfs). They're 3" long and are extremely active fish. Very interesting to watch but a little quarrelsome with one another (but only at mealtimes). I'm really looking forward to growing them on in the years to come. I credit these fish for my fascination in ...

I have a 4" Galaxias who goes mad for chopped prawn and regular high protein Catfish pellets, I have never, ever seen it touch any greenstuff. It has grown 1.5" in the last 6 months (which isn't bad for a pl*c)! It will end up in the fish house come summertime(when it is built) in a river tank I'm ...

It could've been Hemisynodontis Membranaceus or Moustache Catfish. I have finally managed to get two 2.5" specimens and they show spotted markings in certain light and have a very dark belly region. I know that Stingray has one at his shop in Dudley, W.Mids but I couldn't travel to get him. Luckily ...

The fishing topic kinda takes a new twist for us in the UK... Fishing for Salmon/Trout and Sea Fishing off the coast generally means that you can eat the fish you catch. Think of our ancestors catching animals to eat then it is not a problem. 'Sport' fishing though I do have a problem with. I would ...

Sorry to hear about your Gold Nugget. Didn't think of Oxygen before, don't know why? All my tanks have good turnover and surface agitation so that could've been a factor. Your LDA33 is a Baryancistrus sp. also so feed as Pier suggested with a bit of meaty food as well a couple of times a week. If ...

May be bacterial infection/fin rot? Do a 40% water change and then treat with myxazin by Waterlife. Cut down feeding for a week or so. Any medication (even if it says differently on the bottle) will hammer the filter bacteria so feed a little only. It may have arisen from damage (a cut etc) but like ...

I have 5 of these guys. They like a bit of current to the tank and are very easy to keep. My water perameters are pH 7-7.5, gH 7. They spawned within 4 weeks of me getting them but because they were in a community tank the eggs didn't get a chance to hatch. Good frozen livefoods (bloodworm, Artemia ...
