I use sponge in all my tanks and haven't had any problems, but I can see some chewing signs :P on the sponge in a tank with Panaque sp. l204. No health problems yet, i hope that ingested materials come out again the natural way 8)

Well I don't remember exactly how thich the bags were, probably some of those with "round corners" that I have got some fish in from a LFS. Not much help I guess :(
I live close to the fish-shop who got the fish so it did survive.

I have just put an large piece of bamboo (60cm long, 10 cm acros) in my 720 l. tank as hideout for my clown-botias and a snack for the Panaque spp.
I just think about decomposing time/rotting/polution ect. how are bamboo compared to wood ??

Why would you do that?
I haven't seen any of my plecos eating the potato-peeling, it's always laying back and the potatos dont get soft without it, I think it's because of that. You'r right about squach, I dont peel them either.

I never boil zuchini/squash and also potatos goes in the tanks uncooked (they are peeled(right word?)). Only thing i do boile for a few minutes are the stems from brocholi.

Barbie: I have newer tried that drying technique, how do you do it. Does it goes in the owen? It sounds like a good idà ...

Well, I have 6 zeb's and 4 of them is at least 5 years old and no colourchanges has occured. I sure hope that they will hang on for many more years...

I have had three for nearly 2 years now and they are still eating/growing fine. They are in a 200 l. with some big roots and some drifting plants. Temp. in high 20'ies and lot of current. Eats everything but prefer meaty stuff (love suchini also). There are 2 S.eupterus (these are going out soon ...

I have kept both (4 P.pictus and 6 clowns) together in a 720 l. for several years and there have never been any problems.
