Can anybody confirm the sex of these L066?
I have aquired 3 more L066 (not easy these days!) to add to my group could anybody confirm the sex of the fish in question? I believe the first two are female and the 3rd is male.

Re: My new aquarium!
I'm still here just lurking (although not as often as I would have liked!) Just spawned the L066 at work after getting my hands on a few females and another male. The tank was shut down in the end as I wasnt overly happy with it and wanted to rebuild the stand and have a try with a shallow SPS reef ...

2x Sub adult male Hypancistrus sp. L066 King Tiger Pleco
Two sub adult Hypancistrus sp. L066 approximately 4-5ins which I believe to be both male. They are very elusive spending most of the time hidden in the rockwork and slate caves coming out mostly during the night under a blue light and also to feed readily during daylight hours although they are very ...

Strange, no mention of this in the Friday bulletin. The website says that all the livestock was saved though which is a very good thing must have been totally devastating for the staff and the owner of the site.

Re: Anyone know what this Native (UK) fish is?
Probably a gudgeon as said before, has the body shape and could possibly have been a juvenile barbel but that is unlikely in a lake if it hasnt been stocked specifically for anglers unless it had got in from a river. Not much else it could be but it looks very emaciated and if it let you touch it ...

Re: Is it a MUST to have CO2 for a tank with plants?
Plants require more than just carbon to grow, you dont have to use CO2 to get good plant growth but in combination with plenty of light a good fertile substrate, root fertilisers and plenty of macro and micro nutrients it sure as hell helps! There isnt a great deal of point dosing CO2 into a tank ...

I don't know from whom you got the list but it's not from us anyway, following species is allowed to export from them you mentioned.
L-124 Tapajos spot tiger, is the same as L75 Peckoltia sabaji.
L-264 leporacanthicus joselimae
Following species will be allowed under 2010 but is not yet allowed.

Re: L066 Stock density and aggression?
Dont worry, in two years time or so (Why so long might I ask?) I dont intend to have the Steatocranus in there, if anything they will have their own dedicated breeding aquarium and if anything were to happen sooner they would be straight out the tank.

Re: L066 Stock density and aggression?
That’s good to hear, I think the galaxius probably reduces the number but she seems to be fairly peaceful and never leaves her cave during the day. The blockheads probably reduce the number a bit too as they are only young and not breeding yet. Today at feeding time I observed the largest male ...

Yep, unfortunately your right, managed to get a rare closer look at the larger one just now at feeding time and he definetly also has small orthodontles on the pectorals, cheeks and around the head although nowhere near as pronounced as the smaller male.

Can't answer your question- but nice tank! Is there a cover for it? Aren't you worried that your fish may jump out?
No there isnt a cover at the moment, there is a good 5cm gap between the water level and the top and I dont feel worried that any fish will jump out, after all most of the fish in ...

L066 Stock density and aggression?
I currently have an aquarium measuring 140x50x35cm (LxWxH) which is approx 200L with a 180L sump. At the moment it is stocked with 2x L066 (Not sure on sex possibly both male), a pair of Apistogramma viejita, a large 10inch (Female?) Leporacanthicus galaxias, 20 cardinal tetra and 4 young ...

Re: Sex my L066
Can anyone confirm this? I'm really not sure they are both males the larger fatter one is hugely different in size and shape to the more slender skinny one and seems to lack any kind of orthodontles whereas the smaller one has very small orthodontles or at least seems to.

Re: How do you cool the water temperarure down?
Maybe you could pump water from the tank via a small pump on a thermostatic switch through a long lengh of hose coiled around in a container of ice next to the aquarium/inside the cabinet, just buy the ice in bulk and cheap and keep it topped up. Or the same principle (pump on thermostatic switch ...
