Go to the Ohio Dept of Natural Resoures website and use their lake finder to find out what species can be found in the area lakes near you. They should have a species list of fish somewhere on the site that might explain a little about each fish.

I would agree that it is fat, not with eggs. They can eat a lot of food. Cut down the amount you feed and see if the belly reduces in size.

Just an observation

I have been a member of this sight for a little while now and I have to laugh everytime someone posts about a dead fish, they always write my water parameters are perfect! Hmm? Makes you wonder. Now I know it is possible to lose fish in ideal conditions but this often. I highly doubt it. Now if ...

I do agree with the eheim products I have 2 of the 2028's on my 220 gallon tank, awesome filters! But since I have a canister filter under my tank already I don't want to switch. I was planning on maybe some bristlenose and fancy show quality guppies. I have heard the 2 make a good combo.

I have been thinking about changing my 72 gallon bow front to a planted tank. What type of filter would be the best for that situation. The tank will be heavily planted and will also have fish in it. I talked to the guy at the lfs and he suggested a trickle filter. I currently have magnum 350 and a ...

fish at top of tank

I have been cycling a 10 gallon tank with 10 fancy guppies for about 2 weeks. Yesterday I did my weekly 2 gallon water change and it seemed within an hour or so the o2 level dropped and all the fish in the tank went to the top and have stayed there since. And the water seemed to take on a foul smell ...

Spotted Raphael Cat(Agamyxis Pectinifrons)or the Striped Raphael cat(Platydoras costatus) would do well in a tank that size. They are easy to care for and don't bother other fish. All they need is clean water and a nice cave along with some good food and they are happy.

Now I am confused are you getting a redtail shark or a redtail cat because there is a difference one is a minnow the other is a catfish. If it's the minnow? large barbs will be fine. If it's a redtail cat? I would only keep large fish like pacu and other large cats.

Stay away from tiger barbs they are fin nippers. I have made that mistake already. Tinfoil barbs are a good option if you have enough room for them, but they eat alot of food which makes it hard to feed bottom dwellers. Silver dollars are another good one for a community tank,

Give it time to settle in, it will feed when it's ready. Pangasius sutchi are skiddish by nature but will get better over time when it gets use to the new surroundings. As for the ich I have used that treatment before many years ago and it worked for me but can be very dangerous.

If you can find a brand called redflint it comes in many sizes and go with the smallest you can use with your UGF. It's very good for biological filtration. Put it in 2-3 inches deep. It has a great look to it, very natural.

Sounds to me like you need to just keep your hands out of the tank! Let it run. I was guilty of this when I first started keeping fish 12 years ago.
