Gravel\Substrate

Post by buzz763 »

Does any one out there use Caribsea Eco-Complete gravel in there planted aquarium. I have been thinking about doing a planted cory tank and don't want to go through the hassle of doing layers of soil and clay and what ever else people use in planted tanks. I have been reading about this Eco-Complete and it seems like a good option.

I can recommend JBL Aquabasis if its available where you are. Using it in my two planted tanks with great success.

Don't think you can get that in the US and I think you have to do the layering with that product. The Eco-Complete is a use alone gravel that you can grow plants in. So they say.

I have Eco-Complete in almost all my tanks. You can purchase it from most of the on-line stores. The shipping is extra (usually $4-5 American extra per bag on top of the usual shipping charge.) I love to mix it with sand (playsand or Onyx) and FloraBase. FloraBase is neat for Cories. They can dig easily without resistance. Aeneus Cories, in particular seem to like this combination the best. They can dig and dig to their heart's content. It's a joy to watch them do their "Cory thing." :D I don't layer products because they get mushed up when I vaccuum the gravel. Best laid plans!
