Hi everyone! Just wondering if any of the chaca species are completely black in coloration? when you say shovelnose do you mean a lima shovelnose (sourbim lima) or tiger shovelnose (Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum). the lima shovelnose would be fine but the tiger shovelnose would outgrow that tank. also if you want to get a lima shovelnose these do best in groups so i would recomend getting 2 ...

Thanks for your reply and the useful info! much apriciated! the 55 is currently full of bogwood and a couple of amazon swords now! just going to buy some floating plants to block out the light a bit more and then i think it should be fine! hi! I have recently acquired a 55 gallon tank and really want to keep a sorubim lima.
