when you say shovelnose do you mean a lima shovelnose (sourbim lima) or tiger shovelnose (Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum). the lima shovelnose would be fine but the tiger shovelnose would outgrow that tank. also if you want to get a lima shovelnose these do best in groups so i would recomend getting 2 ...

Yeah im aware of the requirements of these fish! dont worry they are both kept in separte tanks to meet there requirements. and the whiptail will soon be moved into its new 55gallon home once it has cycled !
