black chaca?

Hi everyone! Just wondering if any of the chaca species are completely black in coloration? I have only read about Chaca bankenensis been slightly darker in coloration to the chaca chaca and have not seen pictures of any of the species been completely black, however I have just purchased two fish for a species tank marked as chaca chaca that are completley black in color.

I know that these fish are not chaca chaca due to the dark coloration but the color is still much darker to that of C.bankenensis. Does anyone know if they will become lighter as they get older as they are still only small (about 2.5")? I could get some pictures if this would help.

Actually, I have found the reverse to be the case, i.e. C. chaca is usually darker than C. bankanensis.
I have encountered very dark individuals of both species, so color is not a very good method of separating them.

Thanks for the reply! I have found that after only a few days in my tank the fishes are starting to show a little more of a sandy color

Do any of you guys keep chaca sp? If so what do you feed them? mine have seemed a little reluctant to eat so far. Also is it possible to get them to take frozen or pellet food? so far they have oly taken a few blood worm. I have just introduced a few small white mountain minnows into there tank also

this guy is an ambush predator.
fortunately once a week seems to be often enough to feed them.
if you're fortunate enough to see them feed (it takes split seconds) you'll appreciate them. ours mostly lays in his hidey hole and grows algae on his body.
