To me, a 3G tank is too small to hatch out fry in, a 10G tank minimum would be much better, the bigger the tank the more stable the water, and the best results comes from leaving the eggs/fry in with the parents.
It sounds like they are breeding in a community tank and then you are moving the male ...

Sorry, edited the first post to help show the fish better and also added what sex i think the fish are.

There is five fish used in the pictures, the group pictures did not turn out well.
Apart from one fish which i bought and is a bit older, the fish are all around four or five years old, grown on from fry.

A point to note, is L46 have never been legal to export from Brazil and still are not.

They are all L260.
Half of them are my mine from my old pair of L260 that breed a couple of years ago.
Also a couple of years ago i got three fry from two reputable dealers, and over a couple of years i lost two.
When they are all in the tank and settled they all look like 260, i have seen L411 ...

Time between breeding for pairs of hypancistrus is really random.
I have a pair of L46 that can breed for two or three months, and then not breed for six months, even up to a year.
Hypancistrus tend to have spurts of breeding and then a rest period inbetween breeding which is a random period of time ...

The only thing i would say about diet, is this fish were just imported around a month ago, and have lived on a wild food before then, i'm not sure they have been in captavity long enough to be influenced by what we feed them ?

The ants have receded to only a few i am finding each day.
I have a large task ahead of me this weekend, removing the sink and storage tubs, cleaning the hut and filling every gap in the hut with silicone.
