5+ years if you give them a good life. I have mine in a 120 gallon with 3 oscars and a pleco. He is the smallest in the tank at 12" i doubt hes happy being in a 30 gallon tank at 9"

I disagree on the lima, they get larger then 12" and will not fit in a 55 gal. More like a 120 gal for them

Actually im thinking of just keeping the oscars and lima in the 120 gallon for life because i dont want to risk them and I have had them for a long time.

its outdoors. I have no troubles with heating during most of the year because its always hot here. But i have to figure something out for the winter and the early mornings.

yeah just as said above they do get ratherly large. Mine is moving straight to my 2000 gallon pond as soon as i buy him. A tsn and an rtc look good together.

no he wasnt for sale, but you probably could make an offer. In freshwater sale section they got 2 more of these things but they are a bit smaller.

i saw one of these catfish at my lfs yesterday. HE WAS HUGE! hes in a 400 gallon tank with an rtc, ghost knife, and an arowana. He was even bigger then the RTC and he was at least 3 feet. How big do these things grow to? Im thinking of getting one. They look prehistoric.

I shall also post a picture of my outdoor pond. Its going to house some large catfish like an RTC and a TSN. by the way its over 2,000 gallons so they will retire here in this pond.

no that wont work, you need a width of more then 36" (3 feet) so he can be able to turn around comfortably. I may get an rtc for my 2,000 gallon pond, in my opinion these fish need at least 500 gallons of water, or a pond. Personally i would go with a pond. If the temperature is a problem, then ...

Well actually there has been a change of plans in stocking. Its going to have 3 oscars, lima shovelnose, 3 plecos, arowana, 3-5 peacock bass. What about a channel catfish?
