Re: Brochis Cats,

I ended up picking up 3 Brochis multiradiatus this past Friday. I like them as well as well as my 3 new Hassar Orestis cats, that I got last friday as well. Unfornatley, I lost 1 Brochis yesterday, just happens with wild fish I guess. But my other 2 are doing quite well, eating as many flakes and ...

How to safely add sand into my aquarium

As per the suggestion of some member on this forum, I am going to be adding sand into my armored catfish display tank. I have 2 of the cats now that are going to be in the tank, which are the 2 megladoras irwini or urnascope (spelling.) On Friday (2 days), I will be getting 4 Hassar Catfish, and 4 ...

Re: Hassar Catfish,

what is the price they are asking for htem. I have not seen any available locally and would love them in my 125. I had also read somewhere they don't ship very well, so that is why I was limited to local stores only. They are $20 each and the brochis are $12 each, but I am gonna make out like a ...

Re: Hassar Catfish,

I find you can usually make a deals with the staff. I assume this is also the case in the States? Say if the label says "buy five, get one free", and there are seven or eight in the tank, you can usually make an offer to take all of them at a further discount (e.g. all, with say two free). It's not ...

Running at PH 7,5 atm, Hopefully i can maintain this level. But Baking powder and baking soda ? Im not sure what you mean, both of them raise the PH levels dont they ? I have been trying Fosfates ( waterlife 6.5 buffer Lowers or raises PH to 6,5.. Without any progress, it raises to 8ish again, But ...

Re: Hassar Catfish,

if you can afford 5 Hadssar and 5 Brochis, I'd suggest to get 6, or more Hassar and leave the Brochis in the shop. Getting a few fish and adding conspecifics later is not a very good idea: the new fishes will need to adapt to your tank while others are already adapted - thus they end up donw the ...

Re: Brochis Cats,

Re: Hassar Catfish,

If you're serious about keeping the Hassar , you need to buy every single one that the shop has. They are a shoaling species and must be kept in big groups. Three, or even five, is not enough. Same goes for the Brochis . Your 75 gallon tank doesn't have any sand, which is also absolutely essential ...

Re: Brochis Cats,

Re: Baby RTC, shedding slime etc but eating well.

Your P.H. IS WICKED HIGH!!!! Please lower it, this could be the cause. With the P.H. that high means the Ammonia must be sky rocketed. I suggest doing about a 50 percent water change. Add some baking powder to bring the P.H. down. Not a lot of baking powder, maybe like 6-7 tablespoons would bring it ...

There are a quite a few people in my state that have 1,000 gallon ponds so who knows. Something else struck me as illogical about this statement. You live in Massachusetts, yes? Looking at the Cat-eLog, Oxydoras niger requires a temperature range of 21.0-24.0°C or 69.8-75.2°F. I am assuming that m ...

To my opinion is buying young fish and knowing you can't keep them as an adult a wrong way of keeping fish. In my eyes both tanks shown here are not the right for Megalodoras, there arent many hiding places in either of them. If there would be some wood in it for example, the fsh would feel much safer and they would not hang out in the corner the whole day. You are right, Daniel. Thanks. As you see ...

By "Niger catfish", I assume you are referring to Oxydoras niger . This type of fish will quickly outgrow a 125gal tank. Even your Megalodoras uranoscopus will eventually get too big for that tank. I would highly recommend that you get a bigger tank soon or that you think about getting different ...
