and it's not just size; once the word goes out that a fish is rare or endangered, suddenly there's a whole crowd out there driving the demand; price goes up, poaching ensues, species gets even more endangered.
as for the difference between hybrids and true specxies ...

"bred" as in probably hybrids?

Because I noticed that the black triangle in the pectorals is completely absent, and in the dorsal as well.
ALL the baby-multies I've seen have VERY contrasting fins with lots of black, although in some varieties that seems to grow less or almost ...

perhaps studying real hard, hard enough to go to the university, joining thatr, specializing in fish (Ichthyology) and then going after weird Pleco's might be a workable scenario? takes a load of time, however.

Any Corydoras would fit in nicely, just get 4-6 of a single species and you'll do fine. Avoid big ones (C latus) or cold water species such as C barbatus.
A single Ancistrus (Bristlenose), or a few Otocinclus can be kept in there, or a pair of nice Rhineloricaria lanceolata wich is a fine catfish ...

Yep, I got them!!
so now the last of the non-Burundi Tangies will go on the move.
My tank is too crowded anyway, probably will be for ever, I guess.
But we went to Germany and I spotted 5 ABSOLUTELY gorgeous true S petricola's (2 males, 3 females) wich were sold as "S polli".

It's a hard-to-quit habit, I agree!
6 1/2 year ago I quit the smoking of ordinary tobacco during everyday, but I didn't quit with the cannabis for obvious reasons :roll:

BUT I spotted one of my bigger male Phyllo's being cosey yesterday.
upon a closer look, he has a "huge chin", a female as company, and the eggs are clearly visible through the skin
(big yellow spheres)
today, they're both still in the burrow, mouths full of eggs ...

no it's all convergent evolution, and that's only speaking about the sharklike cats, such as Iridescent Sharks (Pangasius/Pangasiodon), Arius, Pims etc.
There's a truckload of cats out there that don't resemble sharks at all: Corydoras, Rubbernose Plecs, Whiptails, Clarias, Bumblebee-cats etc etc ...
