Re: What is wrong with my Sailfin?
I have had this fish for months. We just noticed it this week. I have two quarantine tanks but they are only 5.5 gallons. I'd feel bad putting this guy in there but I guess I have no choice.

Re: What is wrong with my Sailfin?
No one has any advise on this? I did a significant water change already and it is getting worse. Could it be Pop-eye (Exophthalmia), Corneybacteriosis, or Septicemia? The eye isn't cloudy or anything, it is just really big. Please help! I don't know what to do. I have meds and stuff but I know ...

Re: What is wrong with my Sailfin?
My apologies as I thought it was extremely noticeable. One eye is about 3-4 times the size of the other eye.naturalart wrote:I think you're going to need to give a better description of whats going on than that pic. It doesn't seem to be showing much.

Wish List
There are several times where I am browsing and find catfish that I find to be very interesting and would like to "bookmark" for future consideration. It would be nice to have a feature where you could add catfish species to your wish list for future purchases and tank setups. I suppose I could ...

Re: Pictus Catfish Questions
TG: I just purchased three young pictus (prob 2.5 inches) and put them in a cycled 20 gallon long. The water quality is fine but I have noticed traces of ammonia every few days since adding them. When I see this I do a 35% water change.
VJ: by traces do you mean less than 0.25 ppm on a standard ...

Panaque Maccus Shyness
I have a female Panaque Maccus in a 55 gallon community tank with a sand substrate. She has been in there for a couple of months now. She has a favorite piece of driftwood that she burrows underneath on one of the sides and barely moves. I've tried making adjustments to wood placement and stuff in ...

Re: Slate Caves -- Online Source? Red Slate Safe?
Hey guys, I'm starting to make slate caves this week. I have a limited amount of red slate or plenty of "regular" slate. I can make any shape size that you need. Some people prefer slate to ceramic. I'm making them per order right now, but hope to have some regular stock items soon.

Tooltip API
I am not sure if there is any interest for something like this from people other than myself. I would love to see a JavaScript Tooltip API similar to http://www.wowhead.com/tooltips . I reference species on PlanetCatfish all the time on my personal blog. It would be awesome to have a thumbnail and ...

Re: Need help with feeding ideas
Thanks for all of the advice. I just wanted to post an update. We have started having luck with blanched zuchinni. I just finished reading Catfishes by Lee Finley and I am going to try a couple other vegetables such as green beans, carrots, and peas.
Thanks!
Thanks!

It is currently a low light tank (~1W/gal). We did have the light on for 12-13 hours a day but are trying to reduce it to 8-9 to see if it helps. It takes about 1 or 2 days ...

Please help identify what is growing on the tank glass
There is a film all over the inside of the aquarium glass. It wipes off but comes right back. I thought it was algae at first but the Otos and Plecos leave it alone.

Just an Update:
So far we have tried both sweet potato and cucumber and nothing in the tanks have touched either. We've been putting them in 30-60 minutes after shutting off the lights. We can try zucchini as well but I have a feeling it wont get touched either. As for what else is in the tanks ...

Need help with feeding ideas
Please help me! I am relatively new to aquariums and am in love with plecos. I am worried that my plecos aren't eating (because they are nocturnal) and it has been leading to over feeding. Can you please suggest tips and tricks on ways I can verify a pleco is eating and what to feed the plecos I ...
