Really depends what kind of cats you like. A group of mystus bimaculatus is an option.

Re: Don't house iridescent shark catfish or channel catfish with a Harlequin shark
I find it strange that bs seem to have this rasping built into their dna and yet not all synos do. Seems to be just some and I wonder if for synos it’s a boredom thing, as the cases I hear of it are either in singular fish, in tanks with little or no hiding spots or both. I have 8 eupterus in the p ...

Re: Don't house iridescent shark catfish or channel catfish with a Harlequin shark
That is what I would expect a uk “harlequin shark” grow up looking like too. Start off as a lovely variegated pattern but as they get larger this hoes and you end with a black barb with purple spots on most scales. 14” seems to be full grown size from experience. Mine and the 26” black shark were bug ...

Re: Pleco Identification
Just one point to note, as I know it is happening here. Stores (and I accidentally) have found that if they breed male cirrhosis with female l044a it produces brown fish with a much stronger reticulated pattern. Just what we need, more bn types (not), although I am confident this is not what you have.

Although as a fellow fish keeper has pointed out, if you really zoom in on the whiskers they may appear slightly too long, and there does appear to be a hint of a spot at the caudal, so more likely P. Micronemus

Re: What genus and species am I? Phalacronotus?
With a lack of dorsal, decent size eye in the young fish and very minimal whiskers, I do conclude you are in my opinion phalacronotus. Furthermore I would suggest with a distinct lack of shoulders you are most likely p.bleekeri

Re: ID and info?
Think it’s between Hemidoras stuebelii, Hemidoras morei and nemadoras elongatus.
although as noted, the fish is not in the best of condition to tell for sure and that makes the eye look different. Would be interesting to see something else in the shot too to compare size wise.

Would say so yes but your new separate one looks more like O.hoppei.
As you know, oto’s are notoriously hard to id as they go through changes in pattern somewhat with stress and mood.

Re: Bunocephalus verrucosus (impulse buy, but one I'm proud of)
What size are the fish currently? Whilst my instinct would be to say yes it should be a sexually dimorphic trait, my experience has never shown enough proof. Generally we buy small immature fish and tend not to recatch them to study once settled and sexing becomes easy in their home tank. Best of ...

Hi, thanks for clarifying as this is something I have never seen on any of my old male thoracata throughout the years. Although cant check now as my females have all outlived their male counterparts.

Re: Adipose body on pectoral fins of sexually mature Dianema and Hoplosternum?
Ok so just to clarify We are all in agreement that “adipose body” means the bony plates on the underside between the pectoral fins which forms part of the bony structure infront of the adipose fin which on females and immature males do not meet In the middle but on mature males they continue to grow ...

Lovely fish. Agree that they are maybe still immature so too hard to tell. From the photos,if I had to go by pectoral fins I would say the original was female, the top bag shot was also female and the bottom bag shot could be immature male but that’s just cos to me the pectoral fins look thicker on t ...

I would agree with Victor that number 2 could quite possibly be young decorous, only time will tell. As for number three I can see why it was thought it could be ornatipinnis and in my view it looks closer to this than to hybrid 9, but I do still think it’s a hybrid, one I would buy just to prove m ...

Re: Are Columbian sharks ok with full saltwater?
To be honest I don’t think it will matter. Depending where you are in the world you will find differing salinity, especially as it varies with temperature too.
If you can get a steady temperature, anywhere from 1.021 to 1.025 would be classed as full marine conditions.

Good luck trying to raise 6 Angelicus together in a 75. These will get 8” and if mine is anything to go by, won’t get on in a confined space. Although your Nigrita could be worse still.
Keep us informed how it goes.

I have the same granulosus hybrid and he too is a nightmare. 5 feather fins get on fine, even a huge (9”) Angelicus gets on fine but the 5” granulosus hybrid thinks any and every tank is his so he’s in the snakehead tank.no one told him he’s only 5”. Better luck without him and with a larger group

Chlorine and fluorine in our uk water is not your problem, both can be overcome by a decent dechlorinator. Although, I live in Yorkshire and have never used the stuff. Re: Are Columbian sharks ok with full saltwater?
Columbia’s sharks are born in fresh water to my knowledge and return back to the sea as they grow. As such kept three in fresh until around five inches when I started increasing the salinity of their six foot tank. Finally over the course of 6 months reaching 1.025 by which time they were living w ...

Happy to lucky cats which whilst don't actively school, do seem to "come together" quite often throughout the day. Fine with corys from panda size upwards. Groups of three or four or more seem more natural in my opinion. Often bought small before sexable but males do seem to get on ok providing ...

A large female could get to 8-9" tip to tip so a fully grown tiger barb would be the smallest disc shaped fish i would risk with a well fed fish. but it's not just the fact that the fish wouldn't get eaten, even tiger barbs with an 8" bumblebee would be stressed each night!

Haha, did the same with panda cory until one turned up that small it was obviously not one i'd bought but that was by accident. Re: Hyalobagrus flavus
As for breeding hyalobagrus, been trying for a while now myself but to no avail. Did find interestingly that they seemed to enjoy swimming in the flow of a freshly cleaned filter/powerhead as a group, which was really unexpected from these cats, in what was essentially a stiller water setup. Would ...
