Please help!! Unknown species? Hybrid?

Please help!! Unknown species? Hybrid?

Hello all I have been given a catfish today that unsure what it is? Came on shipment from my local fish shop, even they don’t know what it is so I said I would grow it on. It’s definitely juvenile about 4” kind of a fan tail with a very light blue through his belly?? Pics are not the best I will try and get some more. Hope someone can help

Your fish is not a species of - that has nasal barbels (and a different shape) and your fish does not.

Thank you. With this genus there are so many species that look very similar, statistically, your fish is likely to be from one of the common export areas (Bogota, Iquitos, Manaus) and the common areas around those where fishes are collected. You may never know the species.

Pimelodella, possibly lateristriga but there are so many we don’t have pictures of or even good accurate descriptions and locations.
